Pretty sure I'm going to agree with your daughter on the scourge of tomatoes. Which is definitely what he's talking about on this lovely tune! π
My friend! Love Calibro 35 but don't know this track. Sounds like a vegetable crime movie! ππ€©π¬πβ¨οΈβοΈ

#MusicChallenge 10 years of E L U C I D "Save Yourself." 1st listen. Very good debut from a celebrated futuristic NYC rhyme slinger. I'm lazy at comparisons but definitely hear Aesop Rock with his force, references and wordplay. Searching production suits. Love the opening line and feel here:
#MusicChallenge 10 years of Mr. Lif "Don't Look Down." 1st listen. Dope 4th album from Boston's Lif. Compact and focused. He's assessing a turbulent world with clear eyes and a vision for the future. Beats by committee fit the mission. Longtime collaborators for guests. Love the linguistics here:
#MusicChallenge 10 years of J Dilla "The Diary." 1st full listen - I guess this was "too late" at the time? Posthumous issue of his rap debut "Pay Jay" meant for 2002 on MCA. Has Dilla's unique feel for hip-hop but also hit aspirations which don't hit right. Will always post this all-timer obvs!

Coming back!
Hell yeah! I know you're on top of it!
Fantastic! Thanks for the photos! Fair enough, great track. My strongest live show memory of this album was seeing Blueprint perform the strongest "hip-hop virtue" tracks at essentially a strip club in Akron, much to the crowd's chagrin! π€ͺ
Ha! Glad to provide a pleasant number without crushing commercial pressure! π
Yes indeed. Glad to help ward against the fleas, ETC! That reaction is totally reasonable! π
Thank you! I certainly feel the same way, especially after many of your picks. π
Awesome! Sorry for the delayed response, Easter Sunday was followed Monday by sad veterinary news that put me behind. That all makes sense. "Feznecky" is slower than I expected but is definitely a groove!
Thank you! I'm glad I did! ππ€©π«πΊπ
#MusicChallenge 15 years of 9th Prince "Salute The General EP." 1st listen. OK EP from the Killarmy founder and RZA's brother. Nothing too surprising here - dark synths, movie samples and street rhymes. Strong closer:
#MusicChallenge 15 years of J Rocc "Some Cold Rock Stuf." 1st listen in wayyyyy too long. Excellent instrumental album from the Beat Junkies founder. Intricate collages of samples and beats full of both humor and depth. Grounded in battle styles and showmanship, but also looks beyond. Love this one:
#MusicChallenge 20 years of LL Cool J "Todd Smith." 1st listen. Eh. Title may make you think this is stripped down, but this is a pop affair with guests on every track. LL is still skilled on the mic but material is watered down. Let's go with my favorite guest - Freeway!
#MusicChallenge 30 years of Kwest Tha Madd Lad "This Is My First Album." 1st listen? The hip-hop annals seem to have just shifted on this album. Anyway, this is dope. Wonderful boom-bap beats including new takes on loved samples. Kwest is raunchy but his humor helps it all land. Speaking of flips:
#MusicChallenge 30 years of MC Eiht "Death Threatz." 1st listen. Simply put, I enjoy Eiht on the mic more than Ren, so I enjoyed this album more. Jeah. Eiht's album is even 50% longer, lol. But Eiht's distinctive personality and more light in the beats is a winning combo. A reflective case in point:
#MusicChallenge 30 years of MC Ren "The Villain in Black." 1st listen to the NWA OG's 2nd album. Plenty of the menace and street wisdom you'd expect, along with some deeper material. No big highlights for me, but solid stuff. Always love a good Ohio line:
#MusicChallenge 5 years of MO3 "Shottaz 4Eva." 1st listen. RIP to this Dallas rapper who was murdered 5 months before this came out. Out of my depth - much more Autotune than I'm used to. Can certainly hear the strife in his life. Some heartbreaking moments. Here's one with collaborator Boosie:
#MusicChallenge 30 years of "The Substitute" OST. 1st listen. Watched this movie not long ago, ha. Solid comp of gangsta rap of the era of various regions, plus a 1994 Organized Konfusion track? Let's go with one from Snoop's unsung cousin:
#MusicChallenge 30 years of Chino XL "Here to Save You All." 1st listen. RIP. Chino inspired hushed tones for freestyles and battles, but 70 minutes of generally unrelenting punchlines is a lot. Everybody in hip-hop/popular culture catches strays here. Some dated bars. Didn't realize this existed:
#MusicChallenge 10 years of Sir Michael Rocks "Part 2." 1st listen. I vaguely remember enjoying his work with The Cool Kids. This EP feels like a comp of toss-off experiments, some of which work. Enjoyed the opener most:
#MusicChallenge 10 years of Krizz Kaliko "GO." 1st listen. My album project is funny because it leads to weird introductions to artists' catalogs. In this case, my intro to Kaliko is his 6th album where he made a pop/R&B turn. Surprise! This is fine for what it is. How about a purple jam:
Was in a store today and walked by a bunch of pro wrestling action figures and one was Eric Bischoff, and I know no children are buying these things but I like to imagine a child sitting down watching WWE with his favorite character, action figure Eric Bischoff
Me too. πβ¨οΈβοΈ You're very welcome!
