I gotta find the video, but there’s a great bit in Ken Burns’ Revolutionary War doc from last year where one of the historians talks about how probably Washington’s best strategic decision of the entire war was getting his army inoculated for small pox. So this tracks.
FYI you can watch Kornacki Cam live on YouTube
Fairfax is gonna push it over. #Virginia
alt text is great, even when images are working
Reminder to make sure your Bluesky settings require alt text on every image!
In almost no county is the 'NO' getting the swing it'd need, even if in most of the completed counties so far it's closer than the AG race.
But the best sign for the 'yes' so far is the result in Loudoun County, which is almost done & the result is a touch bluer than AG race.
Might not be remotely related, but there was something on here about a DoS attack on Bluesky by Iranian-hackers or something (which may just be BS too)
That part
There were two questions in Virginia coming into today: 1) turnout 2) persuasion.
Still have to wait for wider returns to know for sure on 1, especially for Election Day results, but the Republicans needed both to go their way and so far the results say 2 is a huge problem for them
That dude has always seemed a bit naive when it comes to politics, or at least a bit outdated.
How so? Something happen?
Aside from who started it, states like CA and VA putting a counter-gerrymander up to a referendum, where people are told and can make a decision on the context for why it's being done, has vastly more democratic legitimacy than state legislators rushing it through because they got bullied by POTUS.
Incredible shots of the exchange between Rep. AOC and RFK, Jr. at today’s congressional hearing.

Yeah I gave up all hope on Iowa after the few days post-Selzer poll, pre-election in 2024, when it all came crashing back down to (red) earth.
This morning’s pretty sky 🌞🩷
The Dodgers rookie backup catcher who plays twice a week has seven homers.
The entire Giants and Red Sox rosters both have 13 homers total. 😬😬😬
Most home runs in first 8 games played in a season, since at least 1900:
1976 Mike Schmidt: 8
2026 Dalton Rushing: 7
2016 Trevor Story: 7
It could be a combo of things. In my case I had dislocated my elbow in college and chipped bone when it happened, but didn’t get any surgery on it for about 20 years until it started slipping out of joint (ow!) but once it was cleaned out it’s been good since.
I had those in my elbow, and they are so painful. My post-surgery recovery took a while too but I was a lot older than Diaz is now (still am) so I’m hoping he heals quickly
An orange and black monarch butterfly perched on tall thin purple flowers with other red, yellow, and pink flowers in the background
A pristine and very large white magnolia blossom with curled petals surrounded by green and bronze leaves
Today I got to see monarch butterflies and a perfect magnolia blossom 🌱
Just bookmarked this. I haven’t been able to keep up with any mocks or analysis so this is my cheat sheet
Oh wow hey who could have seen this coming other than everyone except for the stock market bros who all think they’re Jordan Belfort!?
Larry Ellison’s TikTok forcing “AI Remixing” onto their entire user base without their knowledge or consent is a really great microcosm of what US tech overlordship looks like — and why the backlash against this technology is only growing.

Wait until CNN hears about cars. Their heads will explode.
What’s a word for way beyond done? Cuz that’s what I am with Blake f’ng Treinen
Exactly - what you’re doing is an example of the many ways to support Indy bookstores beyond just buying their books! And their offering to direct order that book for yours, plus all the festivals or readings such bookstores host, it’s all why we love them so much.
I deleted my Amazon account which was almost a quarter century old about three months ago and have never had a problem finding books since then (and I’ve ordered plenty)!
