I completely agree and can back this up with personal experience. When I came out everyone was very focused on 'protecting' my daughter.

I finally told her about my life and haven't seen her in a long time.

So sad.

Yes. And anybody who argues that children are too young to be taught that queer and trans people exist are less interested in actually protecting them until they are old enough to understand and more interested in controlling them now and forever.
