George was a great guy. I vividly remember meeting him at a mixer at the IUCr meeting in Seattle in '97 when I was a grad student. We had an hour long conversation about SHELX and crystallography and other things over beers. Both a deep thinker and down to earth guy. He leaves a big impact.

Fun fact about George Sheldrick: he wrote a paper on his SHELX software (that everyone uses for small molecule crystallography) in Acta Cryst A which caused the journal to go from Impact Factor 2 to an IF = 50. Spawned discussion on the relevance of IFs. Huge impact.

Right about now wondering how many Trump voters work at Universities in:
Facilities Management
Environmental Services
Construction/renovation projects (including steel workers, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painters)
Large equipment installation or repair
Security
IT
Need I go on…..

You know how the emails pile up over the holidays, and when you clean your inbox out by quick screen/delete, you hope you didn't get rid of something important? Just found out we @jablab3.bsky.social had a big paper accepted a week ago because the notice got deleted. Happy discoveries!
