Every single mile that isn't "one person operating a two ton behemoth, without cargo," is a win. Carpooling, busses, trains, walking, biking, skateboards, wheelchairs, etc.

We don't have to act like "all motor vehicles are evil and only fully-Human-powered methods of transport are valid ways to avoid driving."
Exactly. An ebike uses FAR less energy than a car, doesn't require registration, license, and insurance, and if they weren't treated like such a niche commodity, the repair prices would be FAR lower than cars.
This person is also saying that NO devices with engines deserve to be in walking zones, which completely ignores motored WHEELCHAIRS.
I can't balance on a bike, but could do flat terrain pedaling on a trike. Having options is a GOOD THING.
Yeah, there's a difference between "ebikes aren't eligible for a race with manual bikes," and "nobody deserves an ebike." Sure, you don't get the exact same workout on an ebike, but it's still not effortless and it's certainly better ecologically than a car for one person to putt around.
I have a friend who got pretty bad POTS when he was rushed back to exercise after getting COVID early on. sometimes bodies need to rest and heal and sometimes they need to be more active and we need solid advice as to which to do when.
and many people with POTS also have comorbid ME/CFS.
Juno offers several different ways to support and time is starting to run out if you all can show support for her.
oh yeah and the deadly risks of vigilante violence against trans people and a slow death through policies that deny our legal existence at every turn increase exponentially as our accurate documents are invalidated or denied
trans people are being politically and legally erased as well as murdered
trans people being forced into poverty right now are also at risk if they file for benefits from the regime
cis people keep asking me why i am not on disability and it's because of the trans genocide our country is doing that defines my life, + it is stressful to be reminded how easily they forget
oh yeah and this risk increases exponentially as our accurate documents are invalidated or denied
Yeah, one of the best tips I have for AuDHD budgeting is to never sign up for something you are not 100% certain you'll keep using for an indefinite length of time. Gym memberships REALLY get you nailed into them- often with cancelation fees!
I would call the chump one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, but he's so toxic to animals that even Apocalypse Horses would run the hell away.
This is why a lot of disabled people can prefer younger doctors, even student doctors, or those from marginalized groups who know the way it feels to be ignored, gaslit, or berated for things out of our control.
These kinds of doctors tend to think their education prepared them enough for "most cases," and they'll never bump into something they can't fix unless the patient is somehow doing it wrong.
Doctors often fall prey to what I might call the Hubris of Credentials. Like a high end architect who has never lived in a poor-area apartment and can only think in terms of class markers instead of the lived experience of a big family in a small home.
Doctors tend to mistake patient competence & earned confidence for arrogance, especially pain doctors. Arrogant people don't take opiates for two decades without needing Narcan!
#NEISVoid 🤬
Hopefully this time around it will be different. I have so much trauma relating to pain clinics.
Also, being queer can (in many cases, legally) get you fired, stop you from getting through the door, and otherwise effectively cut you off from so many careers.
UBI? *Breathe* while looking for a place where you could be yourself (regardless of whether it could pay *enough* for, say, food.)
Seconding. Autistic people are also disproportionately poor and/or homeless. And there's a BIG overlap between Autistic people and queer people.
Because it’s the lens I most interact with the world through, I always think of what a gift to queerness UBI would be.
Queer folk make up a disproportionate amount of homelessness—especially among youth—and holy crap when I think of what it was like couch-surfing, desperate and panicky.
A stressed woman with vibrant red hair holds some back from her face. Not me, just trying to convey how exhausted and stressed I am.

HAhahahaha....
'Scuse me, has anybody seen a microscopic violin somewhere around here?
I hope you ARE "tormented" by your role in the rise of the chump. But I think it's more that he's "tormented" by the blow to his reputation.
Just like the online id verification shit meta is behind. It has 0 to do with protecting kids and everything to do with data harvesting and political retaliation.
There is no such thing as a "clean" coal plant. Even the mining of coal is damaging to the ecosystem AND people's health.
Sure, you can slap some filters on the coal plant, but it's far better to find energy sources that you DON'T HAVE TO BURN.
The chump trying the ecology card is laughable. Anyone who believes him is the enemy of nature to begin with. Anyone who knows JACK SHIT about ecology knows that the GOP has been in cahoots with oil and other destructive industries for GENERATIONS.
And I mean weeding out all the systems that prop up abusers, from the way corporations mistreat employees to the feigned oblivion about child abuse in churches, schools, and THEIR OWN HOMES.
If you want to truly drop the cost of the healthcare system, the two things we as a society can do to make that happen are cracking down on exorbitant markups like $1000 per ibuprofen dose in the ER, and ENDING ABUSE CULTURE.
A culture that celebrates abuse and further victimizes victims is a feedback loop. If you're already disabled, you're VERY likely the victim of SOME kind of abuse, and if you're an abuse victim, you're very likely to become disabled early.
