This is the Doctor/Jesus content America actually needed

Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train.

"If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."

I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.

Already been a bad mental health week, then idiotically read an article about people who had dealt with relationships that turned into poly under duress, and now I’m sitting outside “taking the dog for a pee break” in case I need to cry without the kids seeing.

At this rate I will never date again.

The only topic JD Vance might have any real authority on is choosing a stain-resistant sofa.

And yet, mansplaining Christianity to the Pope somehow doesn’t feel like the upper limit to this man’s smugness.

I don’t think it’s a red flag until the papers start to say it still counts as a salad if you pick up a head of iceberg and take bites.

They Might Be Giants have released a song called "Wu-Tang."

I thought you should know.

“He didn’t chase them away… even though he yelled at them, and he was always mean. And he stole batteries he didn’t need.”

Gets me every time. 🥲

I accidentally finished Final Fantasy Tactics today, not paying attention to the tiny prompt on the map screen informing me I was headed to the final final battle.

So that was a surprise.

At least that’s the me less RPG in my backlog.

I'm always ready to yell "Damn the Man!" on Rex Manning Day. I just didn't expect The Man to be ProPublica's management this time.

After singing along with me to "Friday I'm In Love," my 11-year-old turns to me in the van and says, "Dad, I'm actually starting to enjoy your taste in music."

Reader, please know that I used a superhuman amount of restraint in my response so as not to undercut the moment.

One of the most important things I've learned at my current job is that I should flip the first two (or sometimes the last two) paragraphs of any newsletter or blog post I write, because it always winds up working better.

Edgelords are always whining about how you can't make comedies today because of woke.

Know what might actually be hard to make today? THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

How many of the handful of US studios left would be willing to make a movie about how military officers need to desert to defy Nazi commanders?

Score: Liked It

Review Text: Had some laughs. Enjoyed the animated spectacle of it all. It even kept my jaded “I’m only hear for the snacks” tween engaged! Now announce a Star Fox standalone movie, you cowards!

My pomsky has two energy levels:

1. Cozy little snugglebutt who loves scritches

2. Dramatization of the inside of a fission reactor at the atomic level

Review Text: Every time I watch this I’m struck by the detail of the backgrounds. It’s a world that feels fully formed. Also, the pacing between action set pieces and philosophical debates is pitch perfect.

Review Text: You can’t go wrong with a movie about killing Nazis, but this one goes that extra mile to make those deaths creative and squelchy. Also impressive how it sticks the landing with a silent protagonist whose only dialogue lands in the last moment.
