Can anyone recommend a persistent world in Nevewinter Nights 1 or 2 that is fun and laid back sort of beer and pretzel experience that doesn't take itself too seriously?

Some medium character work is fine, but I'm not trying to type half a novel RP-ing in the same place for hours at a time.

I will always enjoy the RPGs that let you focus deeply on a single character as opposed to focusing more broadly on many.

The more characters you are responsible for, the less mechanically complex and interesting the overall system is IMO. It also gets slower and more micro-manage-y.
