The integrated stress response fine-tunes stem cell fate decisions upon serine deprivation and tissue injury Novak et al. discover that dietary serine impacts whether hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) prioritize hair growth or skin repair after injury. HFSCs gauge metabolic stress using the ISR and accelerate...

New paper alert! We report in @cp-cellmetabolism.bsky.social how serine regulates stem cell fate in physiology and upon wounding.

Humans’ Wounds Heal Much More Slowly Than Other Mammals’ We naked apes need Band-Aids, but shedding the fur that speeds healing in other mammals may have helped us evolve other abilities.

Rockefeller's @thefuchslab.bsky.social weighs in on new research showing that human wounds take more than twice as long to heal as wounds of any of the other mammals in the @nytimes.com:

CD80 on skin stem cells promotes local expansion of regulatory T cells upon injury to orchestrate repair within an inflammatory environment In skin injury, the inflammatory environment can impact repair mediated by skin stem cells. Luan, Truong, Vuchkovska, et al. show that hair follicle stem cells migrate into the wound, activate immune-modulatory molecules, and expand extrathymic regulatory T cells to facilitate the resolution of neutrophil responses and the initiation of wound repair.

Skin stem cells express CD80 and drive regulatory T cell expansion to aid regeneration upon injury. We published our discovery with @phoenixmiao1010.bsky.social in @cp-immunity.bsky.social
