The fanbase once again hyped something up to the point that whoever came out of the crate wouldn't live up to expectations. Danhausen living in a novelty crate makes sense - Jericho does not.

I'm convinced current creative isn't terrible, it's the IWC fantasy booking

the IWC is so finicky and hyped themselves up at the possibility.

A giant novelty crate, with airholes shows up and I immediately think if it was going to be debut it would have to make sense, like Danhausen. Someone like Jericho wouldn't make sense. I'm happy.

I just acquired a physical version of this a few weeks ago.

While I personally prefer Trigger, Cross is a fantastic game! I think my hot take is I feel it's a great sequel and ties up a lot from the first game.

Sure, the trial and the prison break out, but that is technically a trial of the "players moral character" and not "Crono's". Technically the trial is OUR story, not his.

Other than Crono dying I can't remember any story from the game that he is the central plot character

What's funny, is I've never had this thought until now, but really, is *any* of the game Crono's story? Or is he just the proxy character for the player to witness the game. 1000AD the story of Marle & Guardia Kingdom w/some Lucca, 600AD is frog, 12,000BC is Magus, 65B BC is Ayla, 2500AD is Robo...

I agree that the story doesn't feature Crono heavily, but would argue this was done purposely since reviving Crono is a side quest and not everyone would have him back in the party
