I do wonder sometimes if buses would have moved any quicker with the second bascule bridge. That 3->2 merge right after the turn does seem to slow things down.
The back patio / grass at Project 9 is pretty great, have done several adults-with-kids birthdays there. Food trucks and you can byo food.
Ticketmaster reminder email for Les Mis says “one day to go” instead of, well, you know…
Real missed opportunity for a headline here
DJC.com article: artist lofts planned for 3rd and Pike in downtown Seattle. The dream of the 90s is alive in Belltown.
We're so back
basically none of the solar existed before 2020 and none of the batteries existed before 2024. biggest technological revolution of our lifetime:
The arc of history is long, but it bends towards East Main Station after emerging from a shallow tunnel underneath 110th (alignment C2A)
This is fine! America’s a big country. The problem is that less than 5% of new housing is built for the 44% who want walkability.
Precinct results for Sound Transit 3 vote. Seattle wants trains.
Cameron Crowe would have you believe this! And yet… they voted for trains in Soviet-like numbers.
We’ve gotten ourselves into a very perverse situation here. Going back to the drawing board in search of a cheaper alignment would severely delay a train to Ballard. But plowing ahead with the current proposal (truncation)… also doesn’t get us a train to Ballard.
Still the best 5-second satire of office park built environments
@wsdot.wa.gov lotta single drivers using the Montlake HOV exit tonight and blocking buses. What are we doing here?

I like to tell myself I have 21 opportunities per week to be vegetarian and it’s ok if I don’t take them all.

In case you missed it: One of the ICE observers was pulled out of her car by CBP, who used facial recognition on her.
Three days later, she learned her TSA-Pre clearance had been revoked.

Re: world building (in your ep 1 recap), this show has some of the best surround sound I’ve seen in a while. I am half-convinced there are doctors and nurses milling outside my living room. I jump when something falls off a crash cart off-screen.
Marsaille?
I heard you on the pod! Good stuff.
As someone who grew up in the NYC suburbs, I can say that money isn’t what’s standing in the way of density on Long Island. It’s the fear that “Queensification” (read: apartment buildings) might ruin the carefully gerrymandered school districts.
How many tiny homes would fit here, I wonder?
TBH this is where treating driving like a civil right ends up.
Tougher to do at Stevens since the tunnel is so deep below the resort. But not impossible! You could run a shuttle bus from either tunnel portal to the resort. ~10 min bus ride. Train could start from the Evergreen State Fairgrounds (or Everett Station).
