Last night's renders of my Gert.D retro robot progress. The daikon body type that I designed for my Astra, Amaris, Adara, and Alessia figures suits her well.

I'm on a total insect kick now so wanted to revisit my insect fairy bjd and do another design in that world. This one for lack of a better term is the mothman.

Finished my beetle displays for my bedroom last week. Also working on a light switch cover. Going for a dark academia aesthetic. Also finished refurbishing a dumpster dive mirror.

Refinishing a really cool old celestial Sun shaped mirror i dumpster dived the other day for my current Bedroom redecorating. Going to finish it in a dark bronze with rub n buff highlights and a bit of patina in the grooves. #celestial #dumpsterdive #redecorate

Finished my crow bids! I only meant to make one, but the first batch had a part fail so I figured if I was running it again anyway, I might as well make a 2nd. Black resin with some ChromeX color shifting pigments thinned with clear Mr. color and thinner sprayed finely between layers of matte Krylon

Forgot to pull the crows out of the post cure machine. They turned out really well and after cleaning up the support nubs, will just need a clearcoat of color shifting pigments then a top coat before assembly. Ignore the lack of eyes in this pic. Talons are really sharp.

I printed out a test of the loaf one yesterday in pla just to see the size and realized that it floats like a duck.

These are going to be small. About the size of a blind box figure. I think the standing one is roughly 80 mm tall.

Is that PLA? I recently discovered that weldon 3 will basically melt it together like model glue does for styrene. I usually use weld on three for acrylic.

The pigeon loaf one is just a modified version of the original. All of mine are going to be like that. I'll use the original one and just reposition stuff to make new poses so they all have a consistent feel.

Thanks! I actually didn't look at any other art when I started these. Just lots of tiktoks and Google image searches of pigeons. I try to not look at other art when I do things because I don't want to trigger my "this reminds me of" peeve. πŸ˜‚

I have two goldfish printed and ready to clean up and paint. I just need to find the motivation to do it but it's spring and my mind is on plants and gardening. Also redecorating my bedroom or just decorating because it's the only room I haven't done anything with yet.

I feel like I've been making things that are way too complicated. Makes me feel a little burned out so I decided to make some pigeons because my daughter loves pigeons. These are the first two. I'll probably end up making a bunch and a coop.

I've been really into plants the past few weeks because I'm itching to get outside. So I've been cleaning up all of my house plants making sure they're healthy. They're actually doing really well, which is surprising because I've killed so many in the past. I'm good with carnivorous though!

I've been playing around with a bit of a throwaway character. A crow with minimal articulation. Just in the head and shoulders. I want the head to be able to caulk to the side. Might dress it up like a porch. Goose.

But seriously... who looks at that image and thinks they're going to get that robot (presumably fully built) for only $35 and free shipping? You can't even get a decent toy or model for that much any more. And WAY too many people have assumed this there. Mind boggling.

This is also why I sell this particular fileset for $35 on Etsy, but for only $25 on my own online shop. Annoyance surcharge because the clientele is so vastly "different". Etsy=Mega-Karens. Not all buyers mind you... but most complaints come from Etsy and not FichtenFoo.com.

Another addition to the "I hate selling on Etsy" list...
I only sell a few 3D printable file sets there. It's clearly marked that they're files. Someone messaged me overnight asking why their order hasn't arrived. Happens a lot because people can't/don't/won't read. :-(

I also Dremmeled a nice sized notch out of my other thumb nail yesterday while hollowing out an old resin head I've been sculpting over for a work thing. Not sure why people think art is fun and not work. hahah! I mean I love it, but it's a literal pain physically and mentally sometimes.

Why post the bloody thumb pic? Because it's important when you're skilled at something to show those just starting out and feel that they'll never get good at art ALL of the process and mistakes! We all make them and that's okay. It's what you learn from them that matters moving forward.

Not even cut as far as I can tell... just hit the thumbnail hard enough on that edge that it must have separated from the skin underneath. Not as sore now as when I did it 20 minutes ago, but I'm gonna feel it in the morning and the next week for sure! Gonna make sanding hurt so maybe I'll delay it.

Printing one more tray then onto sanding and such. Prints turned out great so far! Smashed my thumbnail inside the glove on edge of steel buildplate while scraping off parts. 😬

Classic meatloaf!

Made a pierogie lasagna for dinner tonight! Bottom is caramelized onions and bacon, then layers of noodles, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, cheddar and smoked gruyere cheese and bacon. Sooo good and 9 more servings to vacuum seal and freeze. Have a meatloaf in the oven now for future meals too.

Forgot about this. Designed a lizard-man 1/6 cyborg action figure in the same style as my Oni a few months ago. Will print one eventually. #cyberpunk #actionfigure #cyborg #3d #3dprinting #modelkit #originaldesign #mecha #fantasy #lizardman #reptile #robot
