Out of groceries, car insurance coming up, and I have to either pay out of pocket for my doctor or wait at least another month to get seen. Unemployment denied me. Denied cash assistance and food assistance through the state. I’m drowning here.

I think everyone needs think about their obsession with Trump’s cognitive abilities (I won’t repeat all the ableist cutesy phrases you’re all constantly making up for that) and why you’re not more focused on his INTENTIONAL maliciousness.

Yes he’s cognitively impaired, but he’s ALSO a violent man.

I think often of a New York Times photo of a little Iraqi girl tending to her parakeets in a bombed house, probably from 20 years ago now. I will think of this man and his sweet dog often now too. People just want to love what they love, care for their little beings, and instead we do this to them

It's up to every pro-Palestinian/anti-Zionist person to be EXTREMELY DILIGENT in not falling for or perpetuating antisemitism. I know the accusation has been weaponized but it doesn't mean it isn't a real thing that is extremely bad and DANGEROUS.

One of the most odious developments of the last two decades is the adoption of "woke" language by certain sections of the right wing and of hawk foreign policy think tankers when discussing stuff like this. If you object to bombing Iran they invoke "local voices"— aka conservative Iranians from LA.

the best part about being autistic is the long road of fixations and special interests laid out before me for the rest of my life. there are things that exist today that I have yet to become obsessed with and that’s beautiful

The grievance faire is good because it lets leftists and liberals cohere around broad principles while sharing their ideas and particular causes

This is brilliant news: when I went to the Congo with MSF about 20 years ago, doctors were still having to do lumbar punctures on kids with no anaesthetic, and using an antiquated treatment based on strychnine that was fatal to half the patients...

I don't agree with a lot of the left criticism of No Kings. The idea that the protests are in some way bad is odd to me. Of course they are moderate/insufficient/could be better, but some folks start at protests, meet others, and go on to do more, and we need to be able to put people in the streets.

Yeah true, I think a lot of people also miss that for a really broad protest like this it's actually more of a grievance faire where people table and recruit people and connect and so on. This has its own utility in addition to the general idea of showcasing a kind of baseline dissent.

No Kings is pretty cool in my experience. I see Palestinian flags all the time, younger and older people wearing keffiyehs, the local SJP tables next to the local Indivisible, etc.
