Today is National Library Workers Day! A day when everyone is meant to appreciate the folks like me who work in libraries but aren't librarians.
Sometimes I like to call it "Be extra nice to your Mandy day."

A colorful illustration of the front of a library with a librarian at the door waving to members of the community outside. A banner over the library reads "FIND YOUR JOY!" Logos for American Library Association and Library Champions in top right. Text below the illustration reads "Celebrate NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK, April 19-25, 2026"
It's #NationalLibraryWeek! Take time to discover what brings you joy at your library: browse the shelves, join a book club, attend a program, or get started on your next creative project in a makerspace.
Be sure to visit your library or ilovelibraries.org and celebrate your library all week long!

BREAKING: In a win for Virginians, a court greenlit an agreement barring the state from removing voters from the rolls within 90 days of federal elections.
The case challenged a policy — which purged 1.6k+ voters before the 2024 election — that flagged suspected noncitizens using outdated records.
Getting rid of the pollen monster means I can enjoy my flowers while they last
I love having mature shade trees but they need to calm down. This is the pollen collection from the deck + patio since last weekend
One of the silliest things about writing for young people is the shade authors get for it—as if it’s easier. This shows me that A. You don’t understand that this is where the big work is being done to help children build empathy and critical thinking, and B. You haven’t read the right books.
Prepping for the Battle of the Books Cross County Championship tomorrow!
Actually, this happens even when you do know the Ss.
This on repeat. Daily.
So accurate
Had an 8th grader try watching Octonauts in class today. I’ve had Creature Report stuck in my head since. I guess it’s her comfort watch

Every single one of the astronauts who went to the moon and back on Artemis II was educated at a public school.
Thinking of the teachers who poured into Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen tonight. You helped send a kid to the moon!
