My favorite pastime in December is defending myself and others for posting Spotify Wrapped stats. You can hate Spotify but don’t pretend like moving to Tidal or Bandcamp is ethical/better for the artist. Stop shaming other artists. Encourage consumers to support music financially. #haterseverywhere

Why don’t you put your soapbox out in front of venues and complain about how they pay live local artists the same amount today as they did in the 90’s. Every musician on this platform could take their music off Spotify today and nothing would change. Leave the artist alone. Challenge the consumer!

…practically for free. It’s not productive to tell an indie musician that it doesn’t matter they are excited their music was streamed 50k times in 150 countries. That shit does matter! It’s awesome. Not everything is about the money.

There is no such thing as an ethical streaming platform. Stop acting like Spotify is “the bad one”. They all take advantage of artists. Instead of shitting on musicians for celebrating their wrapped stats, encourage consumers to spend money on their favorite artists that they get to listen to…
