Ok, life update over. Final shout-out to my lab mate Romi @sensitiveroots.bsky.social for crocheting me this sick hat 🧶🧬

I'm also super excited to announce that I'll be starting a postdoc with Joe Parker at Caltech this fall, where I'll be studying the mechanisms of convergent defense gland evolution in rove beetles. 🪲 Can't wait to get my hands dirty with some single cell sequencing
Thanks also to my lab mate Santi for 7 years (and counting) of friendship and collaboration. Look out for our paper on how genotype-phenotype maps shape the evolution of protein phenotypes, coming soon!
It's been over a month now, but... I defended my dissertation! Big thanks to my advisor @joethorntonlab.bsky.social for all the mentorship over the years, and to my family for coming out to support me ❤️
So sorry to hear about this Joe, but happy that you all are safe ❤️
Thanks for your responsiveness with this!
Spoof movie poster with the title "I Know What You Did Last Quarter." Smaller text reads "From the writer of 'The Bursar'" and "Some reimbursements will be delayed forever..."
Cheating a bit since the most recent photo is of another spoof poster that might be a bit too spicy to post...
Vince and I are currently recruiting grad students for a variety of projects. Please pass on this flier to anyone you think would be interested!
Clearly it left an impression on me!
Wow, this photo just resurfaced memories from when I was like 4 years old. I lived in St. Louis at the time and played at this very turtle!
Hi Erik! 👋🏻 Pubcrawler is great for keyword searches. I think you might also be able to use it for journal updates but I haven't tried that myself. I also subscribe to weekly email alerts through individual journals, although it's admittedly not the best solution in terms of inbox clutter
Hi! I'm Romi. I've finally decided to make my profile here. I love plants, yeast, evolution, ASR ... currently obsessing over the evolutionary origins of the nuclear auxin response.
Flyer advertising a need for scientists volunteers. "Call for scientists! Want to collaborate with an art student on a comic about your research? Learn more and sign up by Feb 1st." Simple cartoon heads are wearing hats that are designed to look like items symbolic of different scientific disciplines: an aromatic ring, a crystal, an ammonite, and a paramecium. Seeking scientist volunteers! Want to practice science communication and help author a ✨comic✨ about your research? I need collaborators for this spring's cohort of SciComm & Comics art students! Please share widely. bit.ly/sciencecomicscollab
