He’s not “somewhat conservative” – he was in the Orban administration and ended up leaving. Basically a Liz Cheney or a Mitt Romney type.
A democracy movement led by a conservative. Magyar left Orban’s administration and is center right - meanwhile, in the United States we on the left are fighting each other and many are still pissed off that Liz Cheney was on the campaign trail with Kamala Harris trying to defend our democracy.

My point is that this was achieved with a broad coalition led by a conservative, while over here in the United States we’re arguing with each other on the left and people are still pissed off that we let Liz Cheney join our anti-fascist coalition.

Important detail: Magyar is a Center right politician, he is not from the left. This is a broad coalition that includes those on the right that value their democracy. I don’t know many on the left that would tolerate being led by someone like Magyar or a true broad coalition.

I couldn’t wait to tune in to NBC nightly news, as I have every day since I was a teenager, to see their in-depth coverage of Orban’s defeat in Hungary. They did not even get to this story until about 10 or 15 minutes into the show and they gave it 30 seconds. I am so done w mainstream media. FAIL!

in addition to this (which i agree with), something that should put some wind in your sails is that orbán actually *was* the competent competitive authoritarian (relatively) everyone worries about, he had a stronger grip on power than i think trump ever has, and he had it for far longer
i firmly believe that kennedy wants preventable diseases to rip through american communities since, in his warped mind, those who survive without vaccines will have proven themselves “healthy.”
