As one soldier involved told Ha_Makom: “The channels targeted foreign audiences and presented themselves as objective and unaffiliated with Israel. But everything was created within our unit and clearly promoted the Israeli narrative.”
In reality, there was no non-profit: The channels were launched and operated by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, whose campaigns division spent the first 14 months of Israel’s onslaught on Gaza producing and disseminating dozens of pro-Israel videos without disclosing their origin.
The videos pushed a range of narratives closely aligned with official Israeli messaging, including claims that “Arabs are the true colonizers” and rebuttals of war crimes and genocide allegations against Israel that were being advanced at international courts.
The channels didn’t attract many subscribers. But individual videos featuring prominent Israeli and pro-Israel influencers — including Noa Tishby and Sarai Givaty — reached millions of viewers on WhatsApp, YouTube, and Instagram.
On Oct. 29, 2023, a group titled “Fact Check–Daily Content” appeared on WhatsApp. Similar accounts appeared on YouTube and Instagram two weeks later — all presenting themselves as being run by “a non-profit working to provide students with information…regarding the ongoing war.”
NEW: Between October 2023 and December 2024, the Israeli army ran a covert psy-op aimed at shaping public opinion in Israel and abroad, originating from the “campaigns” division of the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, Ha_Makom recently revealed. 🧵
"It’s very paradoxical. I think that Netanyahu himself risks losing his main asset in the Israeli public discourse: the fear of Iran, the Iranian threat, the existential threat of Iran. If it does not exist, Israel will have to look for a new enemy."

“Our job is supposed to be done by UN-sanctioned peacekeepers who have the mandate, resources, funding, and support,” X lamented. “Instead, a lot of the time it’s a bunch of 18-year-old refuseniks running around with their phone cameras.”

Across Israeli prisons, the number of Palestinian detainees classified as “security prisoners” has surged from roughly 3,500 before October 7 to around 10,000 today — about half of whom are held without charge, as “unlawful combatants” or in administrative detention.
