like I've done the thing where i dump all my whiskey down the drain and then two days later im at the liquor store again yelling internally at myself. it's rough and it takes time, but I believe in you.

all of which is to say, even if you don't succeed in going cold turkey it doesn't mean you've failed, getting sober is a long journey.

I'm doing pretty good on my "no drinking at home, no drinking alone, and no getting wasted" it's been about 3 years since i last woke up on the floor or threw up from drinking too much. & i drink less than once a month now, but it took a long time to get here.

i have never been able to quit anything cold turkey. I usually taper down and set rules for myself on how much & under what circumstances I'm allowed to drink.
