So could be going on? Qualitative interviews point to the triadic structure of brokered care work: wages are set by the agency, but actual hours are shaped by negotiations with the household — independently. The workers putting in the most hours often have the least leverage in both arenas. [3/5]

In our survey of Polish live-in care workers in Germany, workers who reported working more hours per day tended to earn less per month — not less per hour, but less in total. Surprising, right? We treat this as a correlation from a non-representative sample, not a settled conclusion. [2/5]

Gestern erschien mein ZAR-Editorial zu den Folgen des erschwerten Zugangs zu Integrationskursen. Es war ungewohnt, für eine juristische Zeitschrift zu schreiben. Die Forschungslage ist aber eindeutig: das BAMF bremst Eigeninitiative und Integration aus und für den deutschen Staat wird es teuer.
