ICE is now asserting it's a federal crime for bystanders to request that masked people in plain clothes show identification as they're handcuffing folks and stuffing them into unmarked vans.
Hadn’t really thought before about you HAVE TO end of birthright citizenship if you want to argue in favor of fetal personhood, otherwise any US visitor who happens to be pregnant is carrying a little tiny citizen who deserves all the rights and privileges thereof (not that they will get them)
Indiana state legislature just staged a hostile takeover of IU, functionally eliminating tenure, promising to close smaller (hum) majors, taking over the IU board, and cutting the IU budget. This is so bleak

Jonathan Swan, of the NYT, asks Ms Leavitt (all paraphrased) "The President said that it was a terrible abuse of power for the prior Admin to prosecute him. How is it not then an abuse of power when he directed his own DOJ to investigate two people he doesn't like?"
Leavitt: "That's his policy."
Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.
And you can feel good they lost a few minutes of life they can't get back just to be a jerk to you.
The US Department of Education froze $2.3 billion in federal funding for Harvard University, just hours after the school rejected President Donald Trump's demands that it make deep policy changes on diversity reut.rs/4ie41w1
"What we are seeing is a purge—of the administrative state, of the universities, of expertise—that is consistent with events like the Cultural Revolution in China in the 1960s and ’70s, or the dismantling of the tsarist civil service after the Bolshevik Revolution"

Are we really entering an era of relative sovereignty, where only some countries have it, and only when it benefits the goals of the administration?
On April 12, 1861, Confederate forces attacked Fort Sumter, launching the four-year Civil War—a national conflict that would ultimately force the abolition of slavery in the United States. 130 days to Slavery Remembrance Day. #CountdowntoSRD
Can't wait for the posterboards. Feels like that's the right medium for this narrative. Maybe in a high school gym in August.
Really fascinating how sovereignty is so important in this case but not when it comes to, say, the sovereignty of Greenland, Canada, etc.
If this administration can pluck random people off the street and deport them without due process — none of us are safe.
