#gym today I far surpassed my goal today of 20 mins over 80% max HR. 24:01!! last time was 15:06. Before that weeks of never cracking 12. Time for a new goal. Maybe 5 mins all out anaerobic? BTW today is the 5 month mark. Exercise is the only thing I know where effort=results.

that is a great idea! I’ve gone from an hour plus commute each way to work to 10 mins and rarely drive beyond that. All weathers might be viable most winters but this past one was a doozy and changed my mind
One of the saddest parts of moving back to Canada after living in California for 25 years is having to swap out summer/winter tires twice per year. I'd planned to go all season next time. But, road salt shortage in Ontario likely to run through next season and the winters do better with sand. Boo.
There’s something about recruiters asking you to apply for AUL positions at an US Ivy League school that helps me feel better about all my writing getting cut from my current paper. 2nd time for this uni. My count of Ivies headhunting me is now at 4. (5 if we count both here). Not going back to US!
I won’t be surprised if it gets sold at a big loss to one of his pals looking for a bargain
It was very scary. I’m glad you’re doing ok and especially glad you’re loving being back on the bike, having adventures
Geisel Library! My first job as a baby librarian. Happy years there
Campus network system status all a-ok, no planned maintenance. The elves are messing with RDC group policy settings off hours for kicks? Invalid security certificate? Did they set up a time out so my computer logs out? If I contact help desk, they remote to my Surface no problems ticket closes.
The City of London should publicly explain why a symbol widely understood as divisive and exclusionary is being worn by staff tasked with supporting vulnerable community members.

PS - your work has had a big influence on others. Just sayin
Greg Crane took all the glory ;-)
IT is ditching Confluence due to expense, after insisting we migrate our documentation to it. We know wikis are best @ handling volatile docs maintained by multiple staff. We took A LOT of effort revising manuals. I have sworn to install a rogue DokuWiki in the department. Do let me know if it sucks
Seriously! Staff needs to eat too.
I was today years old when I learned Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote it.
Listening to April Wine “Bad side of the moon” in honour of Aretemis II.
Too bad Neil Peart is dead :-(
I am indeed. Not a total die hard by any means but definitely can list the discography and sing the lyrics to 2112. I get to go see them for my first time in Toronto, pronto, in August.
I love it
Constantly
It’s been 5 years since moving back to Canada and I still have trouble resuming British spelling and calling the letter “z” zed. (except YYZ, that’s forever zed. Rush rules!) Cataloguer looks weird! And the whole s vs c thing? Defence/defense. Or s vs z thing? Analyse/ze. Thankful for spell check.
Wow! Congratulations
black leather gloves, black watchcap hat, rope, crowbar, and stopwatch to keep to the time window for the heist. Perhaps a headset if it’s a team effort. Oh! and a ladder (Louvre right?)
Also this is a long thread. Thank you both as my replies above helped me put these thoughts more simply and succinctly. It will make a better paper and I appreciate the feedback
We’re not the first to operationalize “cataloger judgement” it’s more like AI is the new context which made us wonder it the framework still holds. It did. Successfully applying it as the field changes strengthens the take that it’s theory IMHO.
Thanks Sharon for confirming it as “new”. We struggled a bit with “why are we doing this? What contribution are we making? Why is it important?” imposter syndrome. We thought theory, methods, formal data vs “cataloger judgement” in ExL’s testing of AI enhancement was the “new” addition.
Fortunately our activities actually matched a method, just not the method we thought we were doing.
We started mixed methods: qualitative directed content analysis for testing the framework in a new context (AI) & quantitative content analysis for descriptive stats on performance. Qualitative summative content analysis “looks quantitative” at 1st says Zhang & Wildmuth. Turns out that’s what we did
I struggled to talk about research methods with my colleagues. We tried to do quantitative, statistically rigorous work but even though our math was right on confidence and error margin, I failed to think through assumptions re selecting records. Not every unit had the same chance of AI enhancement
My use of “grounded” in describing their work is colloquial not “grounded theory method” but also a deliberate choice due to the connotation of how bottom up that process is and how Hillmann, Dushay, Bruce’s work on quality criteria is bottom up from being observation from professional practice
