I love the displeaser mug.
I used to have a mug with dinosaurs and donuts on it , but one of the cats broke it by knocking it off the coffee table. :(

I’m not doing my fingernails currently because I can’t do regular polish on them. I just got my toes done this afternoon because they were gels and I couldn’t take care of them myself. It’s a luxury I probably can’t afford. I hope you are doing okay. Do you still wear fabulous lipstick?
Ha! Good ol’ HAL…
Um. Technically, friends are usually human, or at least living beings (hi kitties and doggies!), and have reason and feelings and logic and passion behind their input. GenAI, not so much. Unless you’re friends w cyborgs and robots?
Freaky, scary stuff!
If only there weren’t so many in academia who want us all to jump on the bandwagon. I personally don’t trust it to save us from our worst impulses. It can help me with my expenses, however…
Ok, as you were.
So I’m now wondering about how we can help students see where GenAI can potentially be useful and bypass the dangers. And of course give folks the option to opt out of using it (my 18yo & his friends object to it on ethical grounds).
I was kinda impressed by the results and the resources it used. Plus it offered to give me the info in an easy-to-read table. Here’s the thing, though - this wasn’t creative work. I was having it do the grinding footwork of data-gathering, not write a thesis or book review or children’s book.
I did a little experiment w Copilot a while ago, asking it to come up w a list of wet cat foods that don’t cause stinky stools (yeah, I know). I then had it list the ones w simple ingredients, give me the price per can and feeding amounts, and price out how much they would cost per month.
Yet you have folks saying it’s the wave of the future, that all college graduates need to know how to use it. And, honestly, librarians can’t afford to ignore it, as patrons will come to us looking for some loopy info that ChatGPT has given them.
I’ve been thinking a lot about GenAI lately. As someone in academic library land, I have seen how students have used it to do written assignments. But I’m at a design school, where creativity is valued. Plus, the ethics behind it and its environmental impact are troubling to me.
A gray tabby kitten w white markings has put his paw on a woman’s outstretched hand.
The Kitten Dickens is the sweetest boy.
Oh the humanity…
At the gym. Part of me thinks I should go more often, part of me is sickened by the folks there exhibiting signs of disordered behaviors. Hope “Sinners” wins big tomorrow…
The Kitten Dickens asleep in a leopard print sling bed by the balcony door, showing off his gorgeous gray tabby fur and sweet little pink and black toe beans
Daylight savings time is nuts. So here’s a pic of The Kitten Dickens’ toe beans…
Ooh, I’m jealous…
Hey! It’s almost March! Are you panicking about all the things you haven’t gotten done yet? Or is that just me…?
I saw my current budget recently and DANG, I’m glad I work w intelligent folks who are up for a challenge…
@sluggodoug.bsky.social thanks for playing XTC — there is never enough XTC on the radio.
So it’s been a little over a month since I became Director of the academic library where I’ve worked since 2020. I’m so thankful to have supportive colleagues both inside and outside of the library.
You know who you are…
Am currently lying on the couch with two cats draped over me like competing afghan blankets. Can’t complain (about this, anyway).
Right? Makes me feel ancient… but I love it so much!
Lounging on the bed with the kitties. Luna is asleep while Rosie licks her own belly.
I love hearing the Stellar’s jays scolding each other in the morning.
That is wild! And not in a good way.
This is frightening…
My work here is done…
Too damn cute…
I knew it was a matter of time before the dismantling of NLM started. Still, it's very depressing. Read this important blog post: eagledawg.blogspot.com/2025/06/bias... #medlibs #healthequity #healthliteracy #consumerhealth
