During my 20+ years in the military, we always emphasized dignity, respect, and the Golden Rule. I fear we’re losing sight of these values. I fought enemies who lacked respect for others, yet we prided ourselves on our principles. Straying from this path is dangerous.

Dad told me his roll-top desk would be mine someday. Told him I didn’t want it, didn’t want to think about it.

Too soon, and some of his things remain inside, always.
