Supernatural Feat - July 2025
It's July 20. Doing the July newsletter on July 20. The other two, the first two, I think were the 6th and the 6th of May and June? I'm not going to look. I don't care enough. This is a dumb conversation. Glad you're here!

July 2025 edition of Supernatural Feat!

Discussed: dates (like calendar dates), hawks, consciousness (sharing thereof), breath, "what else"

Links to good, real good, writing, but not all the real good writing, I could never do that.

People are always asking me when I’m going to write a novel. I have, I just haven’t done anything with it. Huge thanks to Burial Magazine for being kind enough to publish a short excerpt!

the Doors of Perception by Jennifer Ostopovich Tina joins our class mid semester. Instantly, I dig her aura. She shares the relaxed gait and slow drawl of the local stoners. She wears her dark hair flat and parted down the middle and has an effort...

New story up at Hobart inspired in part by the recent passing of Val Kilmer. It’s about my teenage obsession with The Doors and conjuring Jim Morrison on the Ouija.

Love, Distilled by Elizabeth Fletcher If grand romantic gestures were my measure of true love, I never would’ve married my husband. He is nothing if not practical. He bought me a basic calculator our first Christmas together so I wouldn’t...

Who’s up for a body-horror love story? If you act fast, you can read it before my husband does.

Many thanks to @aaronburch.bsky.social & @havehashad.com for giving this cringey cnf a good home.

I wrote a poem for Merle Haggard’s mom, for my grandma, about migrant mothers who needed a release. Please dig MIGRANT MOTHER’s MISSING ORGASM:

Alberta actually has some really cool landscapes! The Badlands and the Rockies (Banff, Lake Louise) are each just a 1.5 hour drive from Calgary. We also have Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, and Waterton Lakes national park 2 hours south.

Dakota Badlands are on my bucket list!

Was inspired by an interaction I had in a bathroom lineup on my birthday that I thought would make for a funny story (but of course the rest is made up, lol).

I feel like I saw you post a while ago about everyone hating second person (think it was you?) Let’s see if we can annoy some lit snobs. 🤓

I have a funny little flash out today about being middle-aged and doing stupid shit to prove to yourself you’re not as uncool as you feel. Thanks so much to @havehashad.com for taking this one!

Yes! I hate salons and can’t justify the cost, I cut my own hair all the time. Lots of great video tutorials for all kinds of bangs. Just err on the side of long and you’ll be fine:)
