Like even if this all ends without an escalation from the present level of bloodshed Trump and his administration should be held accountable for the threat alone. Making this threat, on its own, is a crime against humanity.
I think it's bad for the President to threaten to annihilate an entire culture and i do not think you are being alarmist if you take his threats seriously and literally.
At the present moment I am not interested in anything politically beyond the destruction of the Republican Party as a viable political force. If we don't break the back of the conservative movement nothing else really matters. Whatever good shit you want to do won't happen.

It feels bad to have other people angry at us for our behaviour and it feels bad to not be as good at things as we want, and we can use that feeling to spur ourselves to be better, or we can blame other people and get Chat GPT to fake up the work. One of those is a path to improvement.
This is an excellent thread up and down with a whole lot of takeaways, including that growth as a person and living in a society and developing skills all have as a necessary factor that we sometimes feel bad.
Yeah, I mean, did I enjoy HP back when I read it when it first came out? Sure. Did I like watching the movies? Of course. Do I have any interest in anything HP now? Absolutely not, and that is only the fault of one person.
what is alternative? forcing folks to enjoy the art of those who hurt them? THEY DONT LIKE IT. someone saying 'your choices harm me so i dont like your creations and i dont like you' is not offensive, it is the most basic use of human autonomy and it is SO bizarre when folks argue otherwise
'AM I BAD?' is a grand and cosmic question that is well beyond our scope. fine. here on the ground, the DAY TO DAY effects are that your actions contribute to hurt and suffering in small or large ways, and those who hurt and suffer because of you are allowed to not like you because of it. SORRY BUD.
whenever folks talk about harry potter and separating artist from art they always have this indignant 'OH SO IM A BAD FOR BUYING THESE BOOKS?' but thats not the real issue. the reality is that many will BELIEVE you are bad, and that is VALID. its not your choice what others think of you

one hundred percent. i also think this happens in reverse where folks will just personally not like something or maybe it triggers jealousy inside of them or something, so they think 'i dont like this THEREFORE IT MUST FUNDAMENTALLY AND OBJECTIVELY BE BAD ART' then we end up with a substack article
i think a decent way of critique is to decide between 'this is what i PERSONALLY think but it has no bearing on a fundamental good or bad art' OR hunt for some objective metric of 'REGARDLESS of what i personally felt, did this piece accomplish its goal?' both are valid, issue is conflating the two
