Aside from Florida, nearly the entire contiguous U.S. has experienced earlier than average first plant blooms in 2026. Earlier springs can cause longer allergy seasons, accelerate wildfire risk, increase pests/mosquitoes, and lead to less reliable snow-fed water.

In the next few years, AI data centres are set to concentrate a peak power demand equivalent to 65 households in a space equal to a household refrigerator.
AI data centres are shifting towards high voltage, direct current power distribution, building on technologies pioneered in EVs and renewables.
AI data centres see repeated swings of server load of more than 50% of rated capacity within a second.
AI data centres need to evacuate the heat equivalent to 30 natural gas boilers per server rack.
To manage load swings, storage technologies, including lithium- ion batteries, are becoming critical for AI data centres, potentially making them more flexible, grid-friendly assets.

Man these are wild stats. One server rack:

- Weighs as much as a pick-up truck
- Consumes 65 households worth of power
- Needs to evacuate 30 gas boilers worth of heat
- Swings wildly in power consumption

Klein: I agree that it is a revolutionary technology, that it is going to transform our economy on the scale of the Industrial Revolution.

But unlike the Industrial Revolution, which created huge numbers of jobs, the goal of this revolution is to eliminate jobs.

Hillary Clinton this morning on the US-Iran talks that fell apart:

“This is hard, disciplined effort that has to go into diplomacy to reach any results. And I don’t see this administration either wanting to do it or, frankly, being capable of doing it…”

In France, legislation came into effect recently for all car parks that have over 80 spaces to be covered with solar panels. Estimated to add around 11GW of renewable energy capacity to the national grid. Why not do likewise in Scotland? Braehead, Silverburn, Glasgow Fort etc.

Effects of a weakened AMOC would spread worldwide. E.g., accelerated sea level rise on the E. US coast & changing monsoon patterns in the tropics—with vast human impacts. This is not something to take our eyes off, no matter how much the Trump admin & its fossil-fueled agenda want us to look away.

Love the the Artemis crew.

Four extraordinary humans: brilliant, disciplined, and deeply mission-driven.

What stands out even more than their intelligence is their character.

Kindness. Positivity. Humility. Empathy.

The future of space exploration shouldn’t just be bold, it should be human.

The richest 1% will get $117 billion in tax cuts this year, thanks to Trump.

That’s more than the combined budgets of eight federal agencies, including the Department of Education and the EPA.

Meanwhile, the bottom 95% will see their taxes increase.

It’s clear who he governs for.

You can be opposed to the Iranian regime AND the reckless bombing of school kids.

You can support the troops AND be opposed to sending them into senseless wars.

You are not an antisemite if you decry the Israeli regime’s genocidal rampage.

Don’t let morons impose their idiotic view of the world.

Diejenigen, die neue #Verbrennerautos auch nach 2035 zulassen wollen, fordern jetzt wieder eine #Spritpreisbremse. ⛽️. Benzin und Diesel machen Deutschland zum Spielball der Weltpolitik. Der Ausweg: #Elektromobilität ⚡🚗 – geladen mit heimischem Solar- und Windstrom ☀️🌬️.

Which is more important to you?

Allowing Pete Hegseth to use AI however he wants?

Or preventing AI from doing mass surveillance of Americans and creating lethal weapons without human oversight?

That’s the choice before us. robertreich.substack.com/p/pete-hegseth-and-the-a...
