Violet Coral, Glade Run, 2025. 14” x 14” natural dye on canvas. This mushroom was so surprising in color and form! Love that logwood, lac, and cochineal can capture all the nuances of blueish and pinkish purples.

It’s absolutely bananas to not talk about identity… they also cut some tenured art faculty last year. Def felt targeted in this red state!

Nothing specific directed at the art school at WVU, but they eliminated the entire DEI program for the university. Last year they cut all foreign languages. It’s bonkers.

WVU closing DEI office, moving employees to new roles - WV MetroNews Gov. Patrick Morrisey outlined several executive orders the day after he was sworn into office. One of the orders is titled “ordering the cessation of DEI.”

I’ve taught at West Virginia University for the past two years. It’s the biggest school in the state with 24k students. They just eliminated their DEI programs… because you know, only white cis hetero men deserve to feel safe and valued in upper education.
