Different denominations have different practices. Baptists and Greek Orthodox don’t recognize the Pope as head of their churches, for instance. That doesn’t mean their adherents don’t strive to live the Gospel.

I have come to realize that many, many US citizens, perhaps even the majority, lack critical thinking skills and basic empathy. And they don’t want to change. I do think younger people are more open-minded.

I think some of that shortage is due to lack of funding for public education, too much emphasis on standardized testing, and too easy exemptions for less-than-rigorous charter schools and home schooling.
