Great idea! We are ramping up our efforts in Reno as well, doing a #DriveLessRideMore / #MenosCarroMasBici workshop. Might have to look into “borrowing” you buddy concept!

We need a Go fund me to get you a handlebar-mounted paint gun
We have major urban heat island issues here in Nevada. Typical of Intermountain West USA cities, ours are characterized by lots of sprawl , "stroads", & car-centric development. Hardscapes to move & store cares play a MASSIVE role in our urban heat island dynamics. Reason #136 why #CarsRuinCities
Time for a lawsuit? Or does there need to be a tragedy first? 😔
Ok but what if you had even more money beyond that?
Those costs indirectly affect prices of lots of things so... but ... nah -- the simplest explanation is that they're clueless! (not being sarcastic)
facepalm...
If anything, give a tax credit to everyone and if they choose to spend it on gas, fine.
(I'm no economist, and I realize there's a delay with tax credits, but still!)

High gas prices are in your face and the topic du jour, but they are miniscule compared to the additional expenses of car (and profit) bloat!

Biggest I recall since living here. Nothing broke or fell in our house, but ~40 miles from epicenter so...
biggest #Earthquake I've experienced since living in Reno! (we're fine, but I hope it wasn't much worse elsewhere)
Read the paper, but here's a taste:
❌Accident: “Pedestrian killed in accident”
✅Crash: “Pedestrian killed in crash ”
Obscures preventable nature of crashes
❌Non-agentive: “A pedestrian was hit & killed.” (no agent) ✅Agentive: “A pedestrian was hit & killed by a car.”
Obscures role of human actor
Just caught some passive "accident" framing on a draft of piece referring to a motorist hitting and killing a person on a bike. I shared with them this excellent paper by @drtaragoddard.com and colleagues on the importance of language/framing: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
I envy their transit access to the game and then they do this!
Wish Miller/AmFam had better transit connections but then again our bar shuttle fleet has got to be one of the biggest in MLB!
Agree! Curious what’s the breakdown on their support. Mostly against? Pretty evenly split?
#Bikesky I am thinking about getting a Smart Helmet for visibility and ease of turn signals. I am looking at Unit 1 Aura. My commute is 2 hours via bike or public transportation so being able to ride sounds like a better option for the warmer months.
Any insights regarding a smart helmet?
Interesting but not shocking. That said I’ve learned to be more skeptical of studies that show what I want to believe. The winter thing is interesting and makes sense with higher speed on slippery roads I imagine. Also no class iii (🇺🇸) equivalent in Norway.
Really appreciate your work @johnfocook.bsky.social and my students find it very interesting and useful as well!
realize there might be a few centering/lining up issues as well. What can I say? I'm an amateur and was in a hurry!
Had a version that inclued a skull and crossbones (for the car-dependent side of course!) but was counseled that it was perhaps a bit much.
a logo showing gas pump, burning money, and a polluting car getting crossed out, while a cargo bike, traditional bike, pedestrian, and bus are circled favorably.
Designed a bit of a logo for our "Drive Less, Ride More" workshop in Reno later this month. Getting some use out of my Noun Project subscription. What do you think?

Or as we in the business call it "environmental tobacco fluids"
This is really, really good as quotes go.
Implementing congestion pricing at the scale of lower Manhattan seems pretty innovative.
Very well said @jacquelyngill.bsky.social !
Was asked to do review for @springernature.com. The email & the reviewer links didn't have way to contact editorial assistant or AE and "contact us" link was broken. So I submitted an empty review with my question as a confidential feedback to editor. What else am I to do?

My son just showed me the Brewers-Sox highlights today. Great W but omg the CB Buckner call on first... How does that even happen?!

Don’t let them tell you otherwise: people all over the country want safer bike facilities!
