Sunlit, with its bright red top, and horizontal bottom stripe, it stands tall against a darkening blue, late afternoon sky, with hints of white cloud. In the foreground there is nothing but a stormy blue sea with streaks of foamy, white, swirling waves and surf, accentuated by a long exposure image, forming a contrast with solid lighthouse structure.

#Berwick #Lighthouse 13.5m high at the end of the 877m long breakwater, is exposed to the worst of the North Sea gales on the #Northumberland coast. Completed in 1826, it is a major landmark, not least in the iconic painting by L S Lowry.

Forest in the mist.

They're not kidding when they say it's a Temperate Rain Forest.

A black and white image overlooking the ruined walls and ditches of an iron age village settlement about 45 metres across. A circular stone wall and ditch is featured in the foreground, and continues towards the back on the opposite side. The remains of a circular stone broch tower, the main dwelling, stands in the centre, surrounded by the remaining stone slabs of other dwellings. #Brochs are unique to #Scotland. The impressive Broch of Gurness village on the #Orkney mainland dates back to 500-200BC, the Middle Iron Age. It consists of deep ditches and ramparts, plus a circular broch tower.

At 16 had Saturday job at Woolworths, then upgraded to a shoe shop which was heaven!

The centre foreground is dominated by dark streaks in striking, flowing patterns made by soil deposited on a white sand beach at low tide. They stretch into the mid-distance to a small group of low, flat rocks. The top third of the image reveals a calm, blue-grey sky, featuring the rounded hill of the island of Taransay, and the distant Harris mountains in dull light. Both are reflected in the remaining flat calm water from the river that flows to the sea separating the beaches of Luskentyre.

The amount of joy and positivity in the U.K. this morning is wonderful. People voted for community, for inclusion, for collectivism and togetherness. This election has been a complete rejection of division, othering and nasty politics

A high contrast black and white image. In the foreground fresh water emptying onto the white sand beach has eroded the smooth, tidal beach into shallow, curving lines, which then descend into the water with deeper pockets and ripples. The whole creates a diagonal, curving line across the image from right to left, disappearing into the mid distance. The morning winter sun blazes across the sand. On the horizon lies a line of cloud darkened hills, topped by an, ominous, moody sky. Perfect for a graphic mono image. 👍😁

Good to hear from you Sarah. Thank you. Lovely coastline, but difficult to shoot...tides, viewpoints, weather, sea, all need to aline, and mostly don't! 🙄😁 We went to Lindisfarne and best images were of harbour ropes! 😂

A minimalist, long exposure, late afternoon image consisting of the tops of six groynes poking out of a stormy sea. On the horizon is the long pier and eventual Lighthouse, which is white with two red flashes top and bottom. The blue tinted sky is reflected in the sea.

Great trip to #Northumbrland last week. Mostly dry for a change. Though just when you want calm seas some days, there were none. So the view from Spittal Beach over to Berwick-on-Tweed Lighthouse in rough seas!
