there are a lot of connections to be made between the birthgrave and She: a history of adventure. i was actually reading abt She today because of its influence on tolkien. tolkien's influence on the birthgrave and the genre is undeniable, She's influence was obscure to me but now equally undeniable

what could have been a perfect deus ex machina ending was spoiled by becoming a series of exposition sequences. lee was not explaining SHIT to the reader until then so that was disappointing. lee's reputation is in elusiveness so maybe a later work will avoid this.
