This is true for both off the shelf and homebrew campaigns. I typically spend the first 6 months with an off the shelf campaign pruning out what I don't like and adding new content until I get it tuned right.

It usually takes me about 6 months to really get settled into whatever RPG campaign I am running. Early adventures tend to be generic as I begin to learn/fill-in the setting details. After 6 months I kind of have the structure built and start using what I have created to craft involved stories.

I agree. That is a nonsense request. Keep doing what you’re doing. Your channel is great.

Thanks. I snagged it and plan on giving it a read

I ran a game of Alternity StarDrive for a couple of years. We enjoyed it. Some of the rules were a little clunky, but I liked the normal, good, amazing degrees of success.

Cool art. I picked up the Goodman games homage to this module, and I am planning on running the 5E version in the near future.

That’s a good question. I will probably drop a few hints. I picked up Doors of Darkness and plan to run some of those adventures to ease us into the CoC mindset. I also need some time to get my brain wrapped around the 1920s before diving into my own stories.

My players are used to action RPG’s so they barrelled passed a lot of clues. That worked OK because it was one of the adventures from the starter set. I suspect that will be a problem later, but I think we got a good grasp of the mechanics.

I am finally running my first game of Call of Cthulhu tonight. I’ve been playing the game at cons for years. I finally sat down and read the keepers book and decided to take a crack at it.

While my group doesn’t play DND 5.5 I hope it doesn’t flop. I see it as the gateway game to bring new players into the hobby.

I have played this game a couple times at conventions. I thought it was a decent rules lite, low fantasy RPG. The stance system worked good for the of theatre of the mind combat. I personally like the Dragonbane mechanics better and wished they had used that.

Dragonbane is a well thought out basic fantasy RPG. I ran it for about a month and liked it as a Game Master. It wasn’t as popular with my gaming crew. They prefer the larger systems that offer many more character options.

I don’t run #DnD, but I do run similar TTRPGs. I rarely use tables or specific mechanics. During downtime I have the players describe what they want to do, I assign an appropriate skill roll, and then I narrate the result.
