I asked him for space.
He showed up at my house in my town, hiding his vehicle so I couldn't see it, and banged on my door for what felt like 20 minutes.
Everyone has been calling every rehab we can, for weeks.
None call back. Not one.

Last night, despite months of work, I asked my husband to leave.
Sometimes, recovery makes abuse worse.
And I've had enough.
I am no longer afraid. And that is the most peaceful feeling.
Did you know that the oilfeild will promote its randomized drug testing, but that its only promoted for new hires?
If you already have a job on the patch, you get notice.
You'll pass with just over 72 hours' notice. Which they will always give.
Unless you're a leasehand.
I was a rural SAHM and dedicated Alberta oil-feild wife for over a decade. This is sold to folks as "the Alberta dream."
It's so far from.
Silencing one ignites so many more to talk.
Dan Williams, let's talk about what the economy will look like with your mandatory treatment policy.
Has anyone considered the possibility Trump is Napoleon reincarnated?
It would at least explain the Russian obsession 🤷♀️
If anyone is wondering how rural education is going, while another announcement for urban private schools is announced;
My child in junior high is highly determined that it's spelled, "Canadion," and gets it correct on tests.
So. Yeah. Fun times.
One of the hardest struggles one finds in rural environments lately is finding a job that doesn't require commuting to the bigger urban centers.
One of the rarest parts we never hear is "pension plans."
Today, I got both.
After such uncertainty, today is good 🥰
Many ridings don't have active NDP candidates. We get their signs now and then, but in the last election, we had no idea who it was in my riding until the end. Their socials were locked, and they never came out.
The number of people that voted, were high considering.
Employment outside of major cities in Alberta is an elusive being.
If you're lucky to find work in your town, it usually pays rather poorly. So, most of us commute and bite the gas as part of our lifestyle.
Now we pay $2500 for a house with original carpet from 1973, and mice.
Not without effective communication, which would be essential propaganda from the NDP side.
Really, the only way to flip farmers and rural outside MH. But if you follow any of the town Facebook groups, they are unhappy with the UCP. Those unhappy are the demographics that vote in low numbers.
Albertas messed up healthcare costs, is one area.
We manage. We are fortunate.
But we still can't get the damn doctor to his appointment.
I don't have coverage.
Blue Cross denied me as a single mother and the needed meds jump insurance 3x the cost of my kids and mine daily medication.
My partner no longer has benefits. It'll be 2 more months easily before any coverage.
My child requires medication for their emotional well-being, social interactions, and growth.
My child has medical diagnosis that affect approx 1% of the population, and flourished under the medication.
Anyone who says Healthcare is solved in #AB, I have a mountain that faces the Sahara for you.
Pediatrician - required
Diagnosis - done.
Average wait for medication renewal - 6 weeks for a 4 week dose
I book the appointments. He doesn't show. OR books them in wrong months, and doesn't show. 1/3
She has never spent time with anyone out of a suit. While many oilfeild partners watch their best friends succumb to addiction without any help offered.
Out of sight, out of mind. The #Alberta motto.
None of the staff who alerted him to future drug testing were American.
Alberta has its own problems with drugs that have nothing to do with America. Yet our Premier(s) has never focused on the decades-long drug issue in the patch here at home.
As a former Alberta oilfield wife and the current wife of an addict;
None of the drugs my partner struggled with during his career went to nor came from America.
None of the police who stopped him and allowed him to continue to carry were American.
He will bear some of the scars and marks from his addiction for life. A painful reminder each time he looks in the mirror.
A new career outside of the patch, a new outlook on life, a new chance 🥰
After celebrating 7 months of sobriety, my partner and I decided to halt our divorce.
Leaving the oil field 8 months ago, the journey towards his sobriety took years. I am so grateful for his strength to get here today, for therapy to address his needs, and for our family and friends 🥰
On the surface, my family was a jumble of unemployed hippies, scholars, and white-collar workers.
This mixture fed into my affection for opinion pieces. However, very few do I agree on quite like today's in the Edmonton Journal.
Attracting vetted temp UAE workers to come here instead...
Saudi is vetting our workforce? One has to wonder if we are paying Saudi for such extensive services.
It's not red tape if we pay the UAE to do it for us, right?
If people are pouring into the States from Canada, wouldn't our larger complaint be that we are a pit stop country, vs immigrants taking our homes and jobs?
Or are the States over flowing with Canadians and maple syrup?
So much doesn't make sense 🥴
It's rather titillating.
Does the school contact me each time they refer to "both" as "her"?
Does the school fight "her" on being called "both"?
Trans kids are kids. The rest of us can have fun lumping in a lot of paperwork for those who think there are only 2 pronouns.
This is after months spent last year, forcing the school district to recognize the only name she's gone by since birth, and every year in the district. She made the argument, she got the apologies, I just signed the paper.
And now, we shall repeat.
Explaining #ableg new policy, and oh lanta I have an agry teenager.
She would like me to sign the paper to be referred to as "both." Inquiring further, "Both is a pronoun, and betcha these cats don't know what a pronoun is. They can mock both, or both mocks them."
First cold since before covid. Kids are laughing because I'm half the reason we make man cold comments.
Somehow, I missed getting covid despite taking care of kids and their dad through their covid.
I saved them. Now I'm dying. And they mock me. Rude 😒
Many of us left Twitter because it had gotten heavy with toxicity.
We can exchange views without the bikerack bullies 🧘♀️
Thanks to the UCP, we can not run deficits.
A 25% tariff wouldn't simply cripple our economy but divert potential investments for decades.
Why is our Premier seemingly anti-Albertan?
Rural voices matter, and yet we suck at voting.
I understand why. I get why. But damn.
Can Canadians stop pretending that Trump is a great thing now?
Yes, there are benefits to some for his policies. They are American.
Trump was not elected to make Canada great. We were always going to pay for another's "greatness."
