I love paying TurboTax a few hundred bucks every year to figure out how much money I owe the government, which the government already knows, but won't tell me because TurboTax pays legislators to keep the government from telling me. 😍

I have committed all manner of faux pas in my life. I have been socially awkward, socially inept, accidentally rude, verbally clumsy, and obviously clueless far, far too often.
I am haunted by most of them.
One, though, I'm proud of.
My first couple of months in Washington, DC. I am at the DoJ
Hell, we could just ask the bot to explain all of the flags to ffmpeg to buy us a good 18 months.
Quick, someone tell him he was elected president of Venezuela. Give him an office, (just like Fred Trump) some papers to shuffle and an unconnected phone that simulates Truth Social.
Crisis averted.
My duty cycle just fucking can't right now.
rimonoroni Follow christians: what could possibly be in that evil book.... what horrible spells does it hold within its pages... what black magic does it propagate.... the talmud: so if you send your kid off to Torah school but he has a really hard time with it, send him back home and go to school yourself instead so that once you've learned Torah you can go and teach your entire family. in fact, once some rabbi went out to go to Torah school and do just this, and on his way he came through this town and he asked if he could stay in the synagogue for the night. and of course the rabbi said yes but weird enough no one was in the streets and something was kind of off about the whole place. so our hero went into the synagogue only to find a seven headed demon just hanging out in the library!! our hero is terrified and prays super hard and because of this the demon is vanquished. he goes back to the rabbi and is like "dude wtf" and the rabbi was like "listen i know this is unorthodox but you're well known for how good at praying you are and this demon has been terrorizing us for well over a month and we were desperate. we knew you wouldn't die" and the guy was like "i didn't know that!" who do you think is in the right? hm. tough question. anyway. what were we talking about again? oh right. what if you make your sukkah doorway 1/7 of a cubit too short. would that be fucked up or what rimonoroni Follow #what? look up Bavli Kiddushin 29b <3
I love the Talmud
God I wish everyday life in 2026 had an "I'm not ready for the Internet" button.
Most of the obvious ones already there, but I do think about this one whenever I see a bee
How the godsdamn hell had I never seen this one before??
My book preview (not AI generated)
A bittersweet announcement: I was impacted by the layoffs at Consumer Reports, alongside a number of extremely talented colleagues.
I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity and so proud of the work we did fighting for consumers and helping people stay safer online.
Or... And I'm just spitballing here, but ORRRRR the companies could start actually listening to their employees who raise serious ethical concerns and maybe not get sued at all down the line??
I don't want you to be right...
But you're right.
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if we all still acknowledged and praised the muses at the beginning of every creative work. Like, how would a rap dis track invoke the muses? How would Denis Villeneuve have opened Dune? What about a @dril.bsky.social shitpost?
Wanting to live somewhere, to work and pay taxes and make a life somewhere, is not "exploiting" anyone's "generosity" and if you think it is, you need therapy.
Using this opportunity to talk about my really cool clock again
Ah shit... I have an acoustic w/o a pick-up and a Fender strat if either would work.
Kinda dumb that we live in like one of the only developed countries on the planet where failure to pass a comprehensive and total budget doesn't trigger elections
Lots of "SAME" over here.
Do you have a favorite backronym, a rom-com explanation of the Straits of Hormuz crisis, or an obsession with the national debt? This episode, welcoming @marthagimbel.bsky.social, is for you! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/b...
RIP Tracy Kidder, who inspired so many of us, and gave us permission to feel unapologetic passion for our chosen craft bcantrill.dtrace.org/2019/02/10/r...
michaelangelo didn't spend three years lying on a scaffold fifty feet in the air painting dicks for you to not look at them!
You can't ask for much more than that these days.
There's a lot going on here and I just gotta ask... U ok Kelsey?
Hell, this was a good idea back before AI. When I went to law school in 2007-2010, basically every student was taking notes on Internet connected laptops and actually just backchannel DMing their classmates. I started taking notes by hand again 1L year and never went back.
Thou shalt not besmirch the good name of Bob Ross by comparing him to that talentless hack Kinkade!
(And no, it's just a coincidence that we have a name in common...)
A painting of a small country village church at christmas, surrounded in the distance by mountains crested by a glowing soft sunset and biscuits clouds. The church is covered in snow and everything has a weird soft light to it, kids wouldn’t believe this isn’t AI
We didn’t have AI slop art to make fun of back in the day, we had to go to the weird Thomas Kinkade gallery in the back of the mall Hallmark store and make fun of soft lit shit like this
