I get really dopey & emotional about the value of public service. Today is Brian Theine Day in Ramsey County & we should celebrate because Brian exemplifies excellent in public service & living a life with aligned values & actions.
Brian is retiring from a 30 year career in social services. 🧵1

Jam Bands are the Earth-1610 alternate universe of American music
Are we really just going to breeze right past the fact that there are two increasingly-popular American rock bands named ”Goose” and “Geese”?
A group of musicians are playing under a large gazebo in the middle of a outdoor biergarten patio. You've got at least a clarinet, cornet, trombone, stand-up bass, guitar, and banjo. The sign in front says Dixie Company Poland

A gray squirrel runs along conduit attached to the exterior of a white stucco building. The squirrel is captured mid-leap with all four limbs extended.
Testing cross-posting, please enjoy this good squirrel

@saintpaulbike.bsky.social After No Kings Rally, some SPBC folks met at the north end of the Ayd Mill Trail and picked up trash. We made it as far south as Grand before we ran out of bags and carrying capacity, then we went to Bad Weather and Waldmanns. Good times!
If you want to nerd out a bit and spend maybe a bit more but end up with a flexible and reliable setup, Ubiquiti. Happy to write up a little guide if someone hasn’t beaten me to it
Unpopular opinion alert: Chuck Schumer deserves credit for keeping his caucus in line until Republicans folded.
Polishing up my Project Hail Mary review, gotta work in some subtle references to show off that I read the book first like a real honor student

Happy Birthday to Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and a massive thank you to her for inventing rock and roll
She was born on March 20th, 1915
I never turn down an opportunity to bring attention to this sign
Thank you, Councilor, for your vote in support of this sensible move, and for taking the time to explain your position here.
A big shareable rose-pistachio baklava is center stage, flanked by a date-syrup old fashioned and a jallab with almond milk and fresh mint. This was dessert but our whole meal was totally delightful
Home safe after a preview night at the reborn Saffron. Wadi brothers are back, baby, and better than ever. This place is going to kick ass

The moon going from full moon to a red moon and starting to go back to a normal full moon, then my camera battery door fell off.
Here's my first edit on the March 3rd Lunar Eclipse. 15 moon shots, 1 foreground. Taken over a 3 hourish period.

A Line bus stopped at the University Ave station
It’s super foggy out and making for some very moody photo opportunities

the purpose of a rube goldberg machine is what it does eventually
Not calling anyone out but calibrate your messages to reflect two truths:
1. ICE is shifting their enforcement emphasis to the suburbs, exurbs and greater Minnesota.
2. ICE is still very much in the central cities.
Faith In MN, ISAIAH,Jewish Community Action, and others have done excellent progressive organizing and policy work in Minnesota. CAIR MN is an essential voice. Some churches have stepped up to tackle this crisis in crucial ways. Hard to imagine MN progress without these efforts (& I’m an atheist)
Our little breweries, bookstores, garden centers, and gyms are showing more bravery standing up against ICE than the cowardly response of 3M, Target, Best Buy, etc.

We're proud to co-sign this excellent letter with 50 other local small business owners. @amyklobuchar.com and @smith.senate.gov -- it's time to shut ICE down.
New Strib poll confirms my rough guess: 1/3rd of Minnesotans are shitheads who support ICE, but 2/3rds are with us. 69% in the ‘burbs! (Abolish ICE, like Defund the Police, is a public-opinion loser. Still, 79% say ICE should abolished OR reformed.) www.startribune.com/poll-trumps-... (gift link) 1/
