Sadly then it costs 300 quid (as an absolute minimum) to get from our station in NW England to Paris on Avanti then Eurostar. Plus an overnight stay in a hotel. (another £200?) I'm all for train travel and cutting my carbon footprint by 90%, but it's just not affordable.

I love the Radio 3 Now Playing Bot - it's a tremendously useful way to find out what piece of music you could be listening to at any given moment and also a terrific resource for pictures of men staring at you in terrifying ways.

Tip for new BlueSky users: the "nuclear" block.

Blocking a user here is far more effective than it ever was on Twitter. It rips out all connection to replies, quotes, everything. They are erased from your life.

The recent Xodus to Bluesky feels like a fresh new start, and the feeling I get here is much like the feeling of early Twitter, fun and informative, and a safe(ish) platform to meet like-minded people. That was before the angry mobs arrived, and grew and grew. They can keep their X Cesspit.

The decline of X has changed the way I use social media and think about how healthy it is. I’m here too now and will mainly use it to amplify @channel4news.bsky.social but happy to engage in the spirit of early twitter…if that isn’t too naive
