This applies to both my camping and my cycling. And definitely applies to my cars.

98% of bike/car collisions are the fault of the driver. It’s not the cyclists’ riding that’s the problem.
I agree with you. A similar issue is the lack of any mention of the driver. When an article does mention the car, it’s as though the car is totally autonomous.
Most cyclist deaths are caused by a driver.
Can you tell me what helmet will protect against 2,000kg of metal moving at 80km/hr?
So if you can’t use the roads in accordance with the law, you shouldn’t be allowed to use them at all?
That’s a great idea and one I can fully support. That will reduce the number of cars on the road by 80% overnight

A picture of an e-bike from the courier company “Pedal Me”. The bike has a large trailer attached to it, carrying a large load.
Meanwhile, re carrying cargo you really need to do some research.
A picture of bikes parked outside a primary school in Finland. There is thick snow on the ground. 1,000 of the 1,200 students biked to school.
Just because you can’t do it, doesn’t mean nobody else can.
If children can ride non-assist bikes to school in winter in Finland, then I think a lot of adults can ride in a bit of rain
Wow. You really have no clue what you’re talking about do you.
So all you’ve got left is insults?
You shouldn’t trust AI. That’s known as an hallucination.
Much better is to go to Source.
I pay VED, but that’s not Road Tax
Yes, 3
But isn’t that the user? I can do 20mph on my road bike without electric assist and doing that around people is dick-ish behaviour. Just because electric assist allows 28mph doesn’t mean people have to use it.
Been a long time since I’ve been called a “div”.
At least I’m not paying a non-existent tax and don’t have to resort to personal insults in a discussion.
You’d rather them spread out in a long line? That makes it slower and more dangerous for anyone overtaking and for the cyclists themselves.
Plus… they’ve got as much right to the lane as anyone else.
Yep. Also people are conditioned to believe that the car is always easier and/or quicker even when it demonstrably isn’t. My trip to Tesco takes half the time by bike than it does by car, but most people wouldn’t believe me
I remember quite a lot of cars in the 80s only having a single wing mirror (although I’ve been corrected that they are now mainly door mirrors)
Well, yes, but being compared to the US on things like this isn’t a good thing!
Your journey is no more important, valid or worthy of priority than anyone else’s so why do you seem to think it is?
income tax than 95% of the population so I’m pretty much sorted and everyone should get out of my way.
Extra point - no taxes in this country are hypothecated for roads. Everyone who pays any tax at all (which means everyone), pays towards the roads.
But, as mentioned, that’s isn’t the point…
A screenshot from the webpage linked with a paragraph highlighted that says “There is no such thing as a road tax. It was abolished in 1937, with the process having been started by a certain Sir Winston Churchill. “
Two things:
1) No you haven’t.
2) Who cares? Are you saying that if you pay more tax you have greater priority on the roads? I mean that sounds great as I’m paying £800/year for my cars, despite being a cyclist. I also pay more…

Agreed. I didn’t appreciate that the UK was so far down the list.
I worked at a firm that gave the partner of the mother 6 months off on full pay.
Rear camera catches the scary stuff. It was a faff when I had them - remembering to charge and all that stuff, but I generally had at least one person to report in each direction so it was worth it to me
Please repost if you want the full restoration of our EU Freedom of Movement, which was stolen from us by the worst abuses of democracy in modern British history.
not the point. They’re public roads. Anyone on foot, on horseback or on a bicycle is entitled to use them by right, for whatever legal purpose. Their journey is no less worthy than yours.
No they don’t. Road Tax was abolished in 1937 because Winston Churchill didn’t want motorists to think that their token payment gave them “ownership” of the roads. Seems his fear was well-founded
A cyclist is more likely to be a driver than a non-cyclist and so pays all those taxes, but that’s…
I used to when I commuted every day. It stopped me from losing my temper completely with people as a) I was being recorded too and b) I knew that I’d get my revenge when I submitted the video to the police.
