Also just having an overhead editor for the island brings me so much joy instead of the most time consuming and fucking annoying landscaping controls I have ever seen.

ACNH wouldn't commit to having complex social systems for villagers or to have them just be set pieces for your island. It also wouldn't just drop the social aspects so both customization and life sim aspect are not fun at all.

This game feels like what Animal Crossing New Horizons wanted to be but without the ball and chain of being an Animal Crossing game and it's a MUCH better game because of that.

So much stuff in New Horizons feels awful because you need a player character to interact with everything through.

I’ve been playing Tomodachi Life in emulator just to see if I’d really like it as I didn’t super vibe with the 3DS one. Now I am definitely sure that I do like it, however I like it too much and now I’ve become too invested in my emulator island to actually get the game when it comes out now.

I don’t think that’s true. In the Legends of Localization book it’s pretty clear that Toby wanted a Japanese translation first and sought out 8-4 through networking to get that translation done not the other way around.
