Had a tadpole vs pollywog discussion last spring. Just tadpoles here in Vermont, but apparently distinct in the UK.
Raising Epstein from the dead? I thought Melania did that a few days ago.
Oooooo, yes, I go to sleep with Dutch train cab view videos!
A block of tofu sliced horizontally and vertically to resemble a stone wall, slightly irregularly stacked so it resembles brutalist architecture.
Still brutalism here ... brutalist wall of tofu.
Glorious
Partch inspired many of us to build our own instruments. When I did my first opera (1977), I built the instruments for it, because there weren't any instruments that would do what I needed. I hope we cross paths in person someday -- if you ever come to Vermont, let me know.
That's how I know you. Wow. So many years and so many adventures!
Thank you!
No, but just followed. Thanks!
Graphical score pages from three composers, two monochrome and one color.
What's in it? Lots, including score pages submitted by composer friends.
Looks like my font! Cool!
Book "Soiled Amplitudes" splayed open with back & front covers & spine, showing the yellow cover with blue type. On the back is the blurb and ISBN.
It's difficult getting the word out, so if you have my nice fat book "Soiled Amplitudes", I'd love for you to post about it -- among your friends here on BlueSky (where there's been no response) & Instagram. 4 copies left, with more on order, ready to autograph. Also from online & local bookstores.
Perfect anaglyph. And bread!
Text superimposed on the book "Soiled Amplitudes" that reads “The book takes a radical look at composing of nonpop music in our culture. It is absolutely unique and will change the way you think about music making in our society.” —composer Stephen Michael Gryc
Composer friends, you'll really want "Soiled Amplitudes". DM me for an autographed copy (or get it from your local or online bookstore).
Rubio. Of the Hegseth-Rubio underbus choices from a few days ago, his beloved Little Marco goes first.

Two-page spread from "Soiled Amplitudes, showing a block diagram of the "In Bocca al Lupo" electronics on the left and three photos of the buildings from the installation "Wolf5 at Traveler's Rest" on the right.
Tomorrow is the official release date for "Soiled Amplitudes". If you would like one for much less than all the online sources, please DM me.

Two pages from "Soiled Amplitudes", showing color photos of scores by Dennis Bathory-Kitsz (Underside) and Jesper Pedersen (Kesselschleicher). The partially visible text asks about the source of installations and the success of scores like Underside.
I'll take you at your word! My book, officially out April 1, is available from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, or better and cheaper and autographed, directly from me right now. "Soiled Amplitudes" is about my work, graphical notation, and other big issues for composers. Shown are pages 238-239. DM me!
I liked it -- how they framed the characters (Sam!), provided references, and gave us Paul Giamatti in a fabulous role of the laughing evil. I got tired of the brat-boy until I realized how well he embodied an orphan. And killing off a character pretty much up front? Good, that.
An article in The Guardian reveals that reading actual books is back. And mine is here just in time! I'm about to order another batch of "Soiled Amplitudes" -- graphic notation and attitudes. You'll love reading it! Message me for details (autographed and better than ordering from Amazon or B&N).
Thank you very much.
Lovely. Is it marsh mallow? A relative of delphinium, perhaps?
There is nothing to calm my rage over children turned to ash by madmen. After the destruction at Shajareh Tayyebeh and the loss of all those beautiful children, I could do nothing. I can do nothing. I can only compose. This demo is the best I can do.

Did you know that if you buy my book on Amazon, Jeff Bezos makes 5 times as much as I do on each copy sold? Sharing some behind-the-scenes book math on why buying directly from presses is best for EVERYONE (except Bezos) in my newsletter today! aubreyhirsch.substack.com/p/book-math
Pages from "Soiled Amplitudes", showing a frame from my "Underside" video with block colors and structural designs, and three captures from Jesper Pedersen's "Kesselschleicher" animated score.
Bluesky only allows four images, so here's another of interest.

A page from "Soiled Amplitudes" with photographs from the chamber opera "Plasm over ocean", including the "Uncello", three performers playing the "Hharp", and four singers representing the clergy.
Pages from "Soiled Amplitudes", including a block diagram of the interactive electronics used in "In Bocca al Lupo" and three of the buildings created for "Traveler's Rest (Wolf5)".
Here are a few pages from my new 320-page book "Soiled Amplitudes", officially available April 1 (no joke)! It's on Amazon, but for my social media friends, a copy can be had directly from me, autographed, for only a little more than my cost. Message or email me if you want one.
For any composer friends still considering a graphical score for my book: alas, the book is officially closed and going for a proof copy on Thursday. (There are two still coming for which I've locked in space.) My thanks to the 32 composers whose scores will be represented in the book!
Finished first draft of "Soiled Amplitudes: My Musical Composition and Notational Aesthetic in Five Seasons". 350 pp. w/ 110 ill., 14 graphical scores by living composers are here; still waiting on 8. (Temp. cover image.) Full-color book is ~$50 but b&w paperback is ~$25. Msg me if interested.
