…Through the city’s Rentsafe program, I have requested staff take strong enforcement action to ensure that this problem is urgently fixed, the tenants’ health and safety is protected and that there is real accountability for Toronto’s worst landlords.

…Instead of proactively investing in the building’s maintenance and upkeep by making the necessary investments to upgrade the heating system, the property owner, Cherishomes, has chosen to do the bare minimum, which has now impacted the lives of hundreds of tenants…
…This is an older apartment building that has experienced heating system issues in the past, including a few years ago during the winter, when I advocated on behalf of tenants for the heat to be restored…
Tenants at 64 St Clair Ave West have been without heat for 20 days, leaving residents in the cold as Spring temperatures fluctuate, including nights that have gone below freezing. This is completely unacceptable…
Our city’s firefighters from Station 134 stop in front of a school and let the little ones (and their parents) check out their fire truck. I love these Toronto moments.
One less jet landing on our waterfront.
When it comes to Doug Ford’s bullying, wasteful spending and hiding from accountability, it’s always worth taking a stand and fighting back.
While the Ford government’s neglect of Ontario’s priorities, and wasting billions of tax dollars on spas, tunnel visions & private jets should be bad enough, don’t forget they remain under criminal investigation by the RCMP. We cannot allow them to hide from accountability.
We’re working on a plan to make Davisville Ave a more safe, functional, beautiful and vibrant street. Thanks to everyone in our community who’ve contributed so many ideas and helpful feedback. I’m excited to move forward this year!

In response to our motion, I’m happy to announce that Metrolinx will finally deliver on the promised new art installation at Oakwood Station by artist Adrian Hayes, which will honour the cultural vibrancy of Little Jamaica. They are also committing to exploring opportunities to…
…projects our city will benefit from. I strongly disagree with charging the general public fees to access one of the few destinations during Toronto’s games that was promised to them.
The FIFA Fan Fest was announced as a “free and inclusive” event. Toronto residents are already paying $178 million to host the World Cup, getting tickets to the actual games are far too expensive for most people, and there are few real legacy…
Doug Ford announced that he wants to expand the island airport on Toronto’s waterfront. I’m doing what he has refused to do- ask reasonable questions about whether or not it actually makes sense.
Transit needs to be fast and reliable. I’m moving a motion, seconded by Chair Jamaal Myers, at this week’s TTC meeting requesting an action plan to prevent subway delays due to mechanical and infrastructure failures, including hydraulic fluid leaks and signal issues.
This evening, to commemorate Yom Hashoah, I attended Adath Israel with some of my colleagues to remember the 6 million Jews lost in the Holocaust and stand with our city’s Jewish community. I had the privilege of spending time with Denise Hans, who survived by hiding in France in 1942.
“Saving Toronto” - together. Anne Golden and Ken Greenberg invited me to co-author a book about what it’ll take to save Toronto, and focus on our priorities, with some distinguished urban thinkers and city builders. I was really honoured to be part of this special collaboration.

Happy Easter, Toronto. Appreciating our city’s skyline from Niagara-on-the Lake.
Today, I walked in the Good Friday procession in Little Italy, and then walked with our Armenian community in North York. Wishing you and your family a blessed Good Friday.
Canada Post intends to end door to door mail service. But exactly how they plan to make Community Mail Boxes work in dense urban areas, needs answers. I’m asking questions on how this move could affect safety, aesthetics, cleanliness and accessibility. www.cbc.ca/news/busines...
…The next one, which we’ll announce soon, will be for everyone (including you) who wants to contribute to a vision to bring Raymond Moriyama’s architectural masterpiece back to life, for the next generation of Ontarians.

My family and I wish our city’s Jewish community a Happy Passover. I wish you and those you love good health, and a safe, sweet and meaningful Pesach. Chag Sameach!
Thanks to everyone who participated in tonight’s Tenant Town Hall for our Yonge & Eglinton community! It was a very thoughtful conversation. I’m so grateful to the amazing reps from FMTA, Don Valley Community Legal Services and RentSafe for being so helpful and knowledgeable.
A beautiful rainy walk, on an early Spring morning, through the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
I was proud to walk with my friends at the Hellenic Home for the Aged in today’s Greek Independence Day parade on the Danforth. Chronia Polla! 🇬🇷
My first time working out with meel, ancient Iranian exercise tools (heavy wooden clubs) in Willowdale today. Used for warrior training 3000 years ago, they’re considered one of the oldest weight training devices in the world. These ones were Canadian-made by Northern Club Craft.
Every part of our big city has champions who build community- and in her Fort York neighbourhood, I always enjoy joining the inspiring Humera Siddiqi when she brings local residents together. This evening, we celebrated Eid, ate delicious food and made new friendships.
