I was gonna say, Glass Onion in particular I would describe as a comedy. The others had their moments, but the sheer stupidity of everyone in that movie is great.

2 prereleases in and I'm having a blast with Strixhaven. Quandrix may be my favorite implementation of simic with all the x spells. It might not be the strongest school since it lacks the removal of black, but damn it's fun.

it’s weird how “having a job that isn’t actively evil” now feels like a genuine luxury

I feel like I might be alone in missing launch NMS. It was just kinda a chill exploration thing with spaceships and you eventually stumbled upon story things. Now there's just so much that they thrust on you way too early.

Not a series, but the X-cutioner's Song crossover got its claws into me because I was a huge Cable fan.

"Gen Z is forced to take part time roles because AI's empty promises have reshaped the entire workforce"

Lmao I remember a supervisor telling me this and then I did internal training on managing contractors and it said explicitly that contractors cost 2/3rds what a full time person was. It’s not complicated at all. Full time, unions, pensions, everything that’s been stolen from the working class.

Well that explains a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if shelf life is exactly why they're everywhere these days.

Most IPAs aren't good and the fact that they're the default beer at this point is a travesty.

Amazon may stop supporting your Kindle, but your public library won’t stop supporting *you.* just saying. 📚

BREAKING: The ProPublica union is on strike today.

The unionized staff at the non-profit outlet has walked out after two years of stalled negotiations.

The workers core demands are AI protections, just cause employment provisions, layoff safeguards, and pay increases.

The threat itself is an impeachable offense. Don’t let it slide.

Rolled credits on 1000xResist. I can't think of a game whose story was so intentionally and successfully layered. That team deserved every award.

7. The fact Republicans lead with “sports” framing is no accident—it is a political ploy. “The women’s sports issue was really the beginning point in helping expose all this because what it did was, it got opponents of the LGBT movement comfortable," Said Terry Schilling in a 2022 interview.

I'm sure there's a number of practical reasons to keep the covers going, but you gotta feed your heart what it wants.

It felt like such a big swing in their sound after Sing the Sorrow that I can't help but admire them for not letting success get in the way of trying new shit

Days like today, where I eat lunch outside, read at the park, walk to do some shopping, then take a detour on the way home because a jazz band is playing outside the sandwich shop across the street from me, make me realize how much I'm going to miss this place when I have to move.

Finding out you have ADHD is wild. Like, yes it contextualizes so much in your life but it also explains why some of the things you've advocated for fall on deaf ears. Issues you see as vital aren't nearly as needed for the majority of folks, even if it would make life easier for everyone

the speedrunning community was as toxic and as much of a boys club (if not more) as many others not too long ago, and the transition to it being a more queer-positive and inclusive event wasn't inevitable. GDQ's shift has been really meaningful and it's a lesson for what a lot of other spaces can be

All We Have is Us My opening speech at the IWGB Game Workers Annual General Meeting where I relate Star Wars' Andor with the video game industry.

The Epic layoffs remind me of my speech last year:

"They're not going to stop. They'll never be happy with any amount of profit and will always look to extract more from us. I don’t say this to scare you, but so that we're on the same page."

I keep coming back to the phrase "we only have each other" lately. The folks we work alongside (and the ones we have yet to work with) are the true magic of game dev. We only get through this by supporting each other.

I'll never forget that Epic Games did so much damage to Bandcamp's union.

Layoffs are not just “how the industry is going”

They happen because pieces of shit who care only about themselves are put in positions of power

Pieces of shit who have ruined this industry

Never forget what these people have done. This industry is devastated, and their bank accounts are bulging

Also, anyone who continues to think any of this has to do with "over hiring during COVID" is fooling themselves. You might have been able to make that argument 4 years ago, but we're well past that point.

1k more folks suddenly out of a job is insane. Anyone who tries to say the industry is starting to recover hasn't been paying attention.
