A large white waterfowl with orange feet stands in front of a door. On the door is a cardboard sign secured with tape that reads, "DO NOT LET THE DUCK IN." Adding insult to injury, I think the duck might be a goose.
Whatever you do,
UNSUNG HERO: Iris Long was an unlikely AIDS activist. A married chemist from Queens, she barely knew any gay people. She joined ACT UP to use her expertise to fight for treatments. May her memory be a blessing.

Nassau Street, Dublin, 1887, painting by Rose Mary Barton (1856-1929), Irish artist.
You can probably support the working class and demand support for people who are struggling because of capitalist inequality and also not pretend massively bigoted rhetoric and action isn't happening or being Trojan-horsed in under the guise of taking down those in power, by the way. Just a thought.
Good idea!

End fossil fuel dependence 🌏
The only way to durably protect hauliers - and the economy - against fossil fuel shocks is to support them to electrify trucks.
Sales of electric trucks in China outsold diesel trucks last December.
So far this year, only one electric HVG was newly registered in Ireland.

This has been an exhibition in how the media treats angry men with kid gloves.
Remembering the time students were beaten with truncheons and charged with horses for gathering outside the the Dept of Finance (and throwing eggs at it, stains still there today). The public order unit unleashed acting as if it had orders to hit as many young women as possible.
As reported on @virginmedianews.bsky.social at 12:30: Government fears one major retail fuel operator will have empty tanks nationwide as early as tomorrow, if ongoing blockades of fuel depots are not ended. A source said this was “unconscionable” when Ireland does not have an actual fuel shortage
I’m not being funny but protesting a potential fuel shortage by using the fuel in your car to go block the places where the fuel comes out of sort of seems like maybe you’re actually trying to make a different kind of point

I don't think anything could surprise me these days
No oil means no electricity. No electricity means no water pumps. No running water means no sanitation. No power for hospitals. No fuel for ambulances. No refrigeration for drugs. Mass death soon follows. This is a crime against humanity.
The most Irish thing you can do today is shout for a free Palestine
We were at the Ha’penny Bridge today to say no shamrocks for genocide and Ireland stands with Palestine, always. #FreePalestine
the Choctaw Nation here is doing a St. Paddy's Day thing because they have links/friendship with Ireland (they sent help during the Famine).
I think that's cool. I just like that those two nations have a friendship bond over that that's lasted almost 200 years at this point.
I vote we send the taoiseach to visit the Choctaw Nation every St Patrick's Day instead of the White House

in the development of the policy. Consider [teenagers] as experts in their own lives and include them in every single stage of this, if you’re going to do it,” she says. “And don’t think for a second just because you’re a parent that you know more.”
"About one in 10 teenagers coming into Headspace centres have brought up the social media ban as their reason for seeking support, she says... Thain urges governments looking to follow in Australia’s footsteps not to assume they know better than young people, and to include them

A round of community funding from the council just went out in Belfast and every single group got their funding cut, causing job losses and jobs being downgraded.
Every single organisation.
