My office officially launched a new portal with Governor Healey to report violence and unlawful ICE activity here in MA.
This will help us keep track of incidents for potential legal action, help us gather data, and connect victims with resources and support.

@muellershewrote.com If you haven't yet, check out Dispatches from Elsewhere, created by Jason Segel, with him as a similar hapless character. Each character grows past their own personal struggles, but with some added whimsy. AMC, now on Netflix
Wait, so, in just under 4 months we'll have a new 100,000 seat stadium just outside of the White House for this event??? And the UFC are having meetings in the war room daily to plan the fight, filling a white board then stealthily clearing it each day???
Pixie Flora pattern hat by Woolly Wormhead using Darn Good Yarn’s bulky reclaimed sari silk yarn in Gaia’s Ember red as my own #MeltTheICEHat Shown on glass mannequin head
I’ve given all of mine away locally, asking recipients to share that they’ve made a new donation to immigrant rights/aid funds… with the one exception of this hat for myself!

#MeltTheICEHat @woollywormhead A Hat to Make a Point Shows multiple angles of striped pixie hat with knotted i-cord tassel, in two shades of red, on a glass mannequin head
My 30th Red Resistance Hat, @woollywormhead.bsky.social ‘s A Hat to Make a Point striped pixie with knotted i-cord tassel, inspired by Needle & Skein’s #MeltTheICEHat which has raised over $700k thru them, plus countless funds for immigrant rights/aid world wide!
I believe it's the lying under oath that makes for easier impeachment grounds, when Democrats have the majorities.
Does she only nod her head up & down when lying? Is it her tell? (I think I've seen her speak a few times without nodding, but rarely.)
Hehe, I dug through all the solid red that I owned plus a marled red/burgundy… got remnants from another knitter, bought 4 more large skeins, then a friend ordered me 6 Simply Soft & another left surprise 2 large skeins of super saver when she picked up her pins & one left money for more yarn!
Some of the 25 red hats I've knit so far (26th is on the needles!) along with 10s of mini hats as pins or bag charms. I've been giving them away locally to friends & protesters in exchange for their direct donations to immigrant rights/aid funds.
(patterns in alt text & links @ ravel.me/neithj/psct)
For other knitters, the patterns I've used include N&S's Melt the ICE, Melt the ICE Toque by Sisu Designs, Ice Crusher by Sahnya Greenfield, plus Woolly Wormhead's Hat to Make a Point, Trio of Hats, & Staggered... so far. Giving variety to both my recipients & my own hands!
Some of the 25 red hats that I've knit so far (not shown are the tens of mini hats that I've also knit) and given away in my local community in exchange for the recipients making direct donations to immigrant rights/aid funds.
Working on red hat #25 now.. they've been going out locally to friends and protesters in the community in trade for them donating directly to immigrant rights/aid groups (and replenishment yarn keeps showing up as well in gifts from them!)
Plus tens of mini hats from the remnants of each skein!
Well, they were building the Hyundai battery factory, and then they rounded up, imprisoned and deported all of the transitional workers back to S Korea, illegally. So, of course, everyone is just dying to come build here again!
In his family one of his cousins shares the name. His mother and her sisters share a generation name. One cousin household inverts it w/a shared middle name and different first names. But most of our Korean friends don't have generation names.
I think it's nifty, but it can create a mess here! 3/3
as pretty much a single name. When moving to the US most separate them as first & middle though some hyphenate them. Nicknames can be substituted, but legally here it's the same first & last.
Not all families use this convention & it was more common with males. It can extend to cousins. 2/
Oh gosh, yeah... I only know about those Asian countries due to my own husband (& later the fellow-twin mom who adopted) but figure that there must be more! Wikipedia listed the other two (I think I knew that about the Chinese naming convention).
In Korea the two names would be used together as 1/
(Oh while working on character count I accidentally deleted that my naturalized Korean-American husband and younger brother share the same fist and last romanized names with sequential ss#s)
That is heart warming at least!
But yeah immigrant status is very complex!
(The dr had to prescribe double the dose & get a waiver)
My own health insurance tried to claw back payments for my son’s birth over a year afterwards & instead bill my brother in law’s insurance!
My husband can’t remember when he first voted & if his brother was naturalized by then. 3/3
27 years ago a friend adopted twin brothers from S Korea who needed urgent medical care, but insurance systems truncated social security numbers & omitted middle names, so they couldn’t fulfill prescriptions as the systems thought they were one person. 2/
they may immigrate with social security numbers one digit apart, but naturalize separately… Such as with my naturalized Korean American husband and his younger brother.
I can envision nightmares for younger siblings in those communities… 2/
I’m also worried about the new push to uncover voting fraud iv naturalized citizens. Especially for the Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese Americans & any other community where “generation names” have been common. When siblings & cousins share the same romanized first and last names… 1/
I have zero faith that this administration won't intentionally expire Green Cards in order to detain/deport people. They are exploiting every loophole (or pretending they mean one thing when they mean another) & ignoring/manipulating any laws that get in their way.
But yes, pre-card is much easier!
A friend was denied a renewal because her husband was expected to get citizenship soon. Her work permissions abruptly ended and weren't restored for over a year. All because her spouse was about to be naturalized, but hadn't been yet. Legal immigration in the US has been messy in so many ways. 4/4
It's quite easy to see this as a trap. Green Cards also expire after 10 years (2 years in some cases), do we trust this admin to not withhold renewals in order to detain more?
Before Trump it was already a mess, for example... 3/
approval rates were in decline AND taking longer to process. If they detain anyone who doesn't HAVE a green card, that would include those who applied and are in limbo. I've seen ambiguous wording so in the best case only those who have not applied or who got declined would be detained... but 2/
And in April of last year the administration abruptly stopped processing green card applications for refugees and asylum seekers. I don't know if it's resumed for any? If not, then anyone entering from April 2024 onwards would not have green cards because of the admin... plus... 1/

I'm guessing this can cause imprisonment, denaturalization, & deportation especially within the Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese-American communities where generational names were not uncommon. Siblings/cousins with the same first and last name, often ss# one digit apart.
Is CBS "caving in" or was it bought in order to keep it aligned with MAGA? And now the same family is trying to acquire CNN/Warner.
Suffering a terrible tragedy doesn't necessarily turn you into a good person. (One of the main villians in the Billions tv show lost his staff in the towers on 9/11, then turned around and profited off it and other schemes. I may need to rewatch a little of it now.)
