Indiana State Prison removing outlets from cells after second inmate hospitalized in cell fire D-cellhouse outlets are being removed from the Michigan City prison after the IDOC says inmate tampering caused the fire.

First you make #prison conditions bad enough for people that they try to burn themselves alive by starting electrical fires in the cells they are locked into. Then, to stop them from doing that, you make conditions worse for them.

A chatbot is always going to produce a statistically likely sentence. It is always going to tell you what's routine, likely, "normal." It will not help you break out of cliche. It's MADE of things-already-said. It cannot say anything particularly new.

engaging with work by a long-dead artist who was shitty is not the same as supporting childhood nostalgia turned global brand that funnels money directly to an anti-trans bigot who has made it her life mission to inflict cruelty on others, hope this helps

Amazingly, the schwa can be spelled with *any* vowel letter. The A in "about"? Schwa. The O in "gallon"? Schwa. The E in "taken"? Also schwa.

The schwa is also one reason English spelling is so unpredictable — because so many different letters can represent a single sound.

A black schwa symbol (an upside-down lowercase E) on a pale yellow lined notepad.

The most common vowel sound in English isn't A, E, I, O, U or even Y. It's the schwa, and it sounds more like "uh."

The schwa is written as an upside-down "e," and you hear it at the end of "sofa" and in the middle of "memory."

Texas AG Paxton Declares Therapists Affirming Trans Youth To Be Illegal And Child Abuse The declaration echoes his 2022 efforts to target parents of trans youth with child abuse, and may force conversion therapy on trans youth in the state.

1. This morning, Texas AG Ken Paxton just released a chilling new declaration:

Mental health therapists, counselors, and psychologists must cease affirming trans youth - using their name and pronouns - or potentially face child abuse charges and loss of licensure.

Its a horrifying escalation.

The recent unconstitutional war taken by the current administration is reckless at best and dangerous at worst. Putting service members in harm’s way should be taken with the gravest of consequences in mind. Unconstitutional consequences are as serious as the results they cause.
“This is not Iraq” says the same people that have lied to the American people since day one. Healthcare costs have skyrocketed, grocery prices are out of control, and now gas prices are next. Forgive me if I don’t believe you. Forgive me if western North Carolina doesn’t believe you, because we don’t. Furthermore, we still have elected officials who haven’t even issued a statement condemning these actions. We still have candidates who are silent. Candidates need to be able to answer tough and fair questions from voters. Every single voter should know where each candidate definitively stands on issues. In my opinion, if you can’t stand against actions like this, then you have no business running for office...

Heroic Chicago trans comedian recalls saving infant from ice-cold Lake Michigan: ‘I guess I’m going in’ “The most important part of this entire story is that the baby is okay,” Lio Cundiff told The Advocate.

“It’s weird,” he said. “I just did something that I would think anyone would do. What do you mean you would watch a stroller and a baby just sink?”

An official letter from the Kansas Division of Vehicles dated February 23, 2026, with a redacted recipient address. The letter notifies the recipient that due to the enactment of Senate Bill 244, all Kansas driver's licenses and IDs must reflect the holder's sex at birth. It states that the recipient's current credential will become invalid immediately upon the law's publication on February 26, 2026, with no grace period. The recipient is directed to surrender their current ID to receive a new one matching their sex assigned at birth. The document concludes with instructions on how to appeal the notice if received in error, along with contact information for the department.

Kansas is sending letters to trans people telling them that their licenses will be revoked as of tomorrow and that they risk arrest for driving on a suspended license.

This is pure cruelty.

How many times, in how many contexts, in how many ways am I going to have to say that this is what "AI" does— what it fundamentally *is*— before it sinks in? That all Bullshit engines do is statistically correlate training data & inputs via their weights to produce outputs you are likely to accept…

There was an overflow crowd at the council meeting in Canton, NC where they were taking comments on a potential moratorium on data centers. People are overwhelmingly against it. They put a big speaker outside so we could hear.

Pop star Bad Bunny needed a Puerto Rican history scholar. UW–Madison had just the one. Bad Bunny collaborated with UW–Madison history professor Jorell Meléndez-Badillo on Puerto Rican narratives that accompany the new album “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.”

Bad Bunny did his homework.

If Bad Bunny can cover the history of Puerto Rico, colonialism, transatlantic slavery, hemispheric consciousness, as well as contemporary life and politics in under 14 minutes, you can do your 15- or 20-minute conference presentation with time to spare.

Another resistance quilt finished this week. The eye is my own design, the letters are a fpp pattern by QuiltByNight, the rounded corners and black binding are meant to resemble the phones we the people are using to document the horrors and disprove the government’s lies about what they are doing.
