this is unlike many other communities! eg the resist lib community is large and generally full of sincere people, which has led to it being by some margin the most successful US political movement in the 21st century

More importantly, I think it's that there are more than enough bad actors to completely overwhelm the system. HN, which really just has a civility bar, is full of somewhat intelligent bigots who easily pass that bar.

sure, they banned that Nazi and the transphobe that was harassing people, but those are just the stupid ones. no amount of tool-building or composable moderation or whatever is going to replace banning the right on sight, *especially* the polite ones

serious attempts at moderation must grapple with this. the global right is an inherently anti-social, psychopathic institution. the only reasonable way to moderate a community is to strongly signal that the right is and always will be unwelcome. I don't see how bluesky is going to do that
