"Feel" is an important part of it too, honestly; I look at something like Yore-Tiller and I can envision a deck built around it, but the fact that it doesn't provide an engine for its effect means I have to be a bit more clever to facilitate what it wants to do, and that feels really good.

They're very common to find in school playgrounds when they feel like giving the kids a "fun day" a day or two out of the year. They're not pennies, but you're not emptying the PTA's bank vaults either.

There's also a pretty decently sized mosque within walking distance of where I live, and a hop-skip-and-jump away is a little strip of stores that cater to a Muslim community. I've voted at that mosque - it's a nice place. The past couple days or so have been a grand opportunity to touch some grass.

"The Islamification of Texas" is absolutely mind-melting as a concept when I can count no less than a half-dozen jackets and hoodies and shirts at any given time that reference Jesus or God at the middle school I work at. To think some religious paradigm shift is incoming is laughable.

Comic. I’m at my desk, leaning over to the doorway, saying “Hey! Foghorn! Foghorn Leghorn! Get in here!”
Foghorn Leghorn is walking past the doorway, “Boy, I tell ya, I tell ya, not so loud, boy. What, I say, I say, what d’ya want?”
Next panel, I’m gesturing to my computer. “How do I find that really good manga you recommended? It’s an anime now? I keep getting Halloween costumes.” Foghorn leans over my chair, “well, boy, I say, I say, you ain’t typin the entire title.”
Last panel, I turn around- “you said ‘witch hat.’ Foghorn gets in my face- “open your ears, boy!! ‘Witch Hat Atelier, I tell ya! I tell ya ‘Atelier,’ I tell ya’”

I'm not even into Papa Roach; it doesn't really factor. The heart remains there.

Metal distilled into its purest form, expressed by Mongolian throat singers wielding traditional instruments backed by a pair of drum kits and the vocalist of an American rock band looking like he's with his best buds, and for a short time nothing else feels like it matters.

Jacoby thrashes and fist-pumps, hugs one of the HU's vocalists, they're all having a grand old time, and especially during and after the chant in the bridge you get the real sense, even as a semi-choreographed affair, the reason the HU popped off at that time was due to how "primal" it all felt.

The HU - Wolf Totem feat. Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach (Official Music Video) YouTube video by Better Noise Music

www.youtube.com/watch?v=sv29... Your reminder that Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach was brought on to do a collaborative rendition of one of The HU's most popular songs (Wolf Totem) and it's pretty much a visceral insight into how music like this can make its listeners feel.

No kidding. The Mystical Archives in general (both languages, too) have some of the best artwork in a long while, and recent sets were already hitting high marks in a lot of areas.

Those Silverquill boxes though, plus the one with Abigale on it - they're something else. So, so good.

Been keeping my eye on the upcoming release of this orchestral album from Nobuo Uematsu with the London Symphony Orchestra. You gotta pay attention when he's doing stuff that doesn't have "Final Fantasy" on it, or you'll miss some really special stuff he continues to work on.

Hey California Democrats, if you're looking for a candidate *without* an army of skeletons in their closet, here's a guy who survived the vetting process and confirmation hearings for a Cabinet position.

magic the gathering card of Moseo, Vein's New Dean. a bird skeleton with a glowing eye and feathery robes swiveling to look at the viewer while conjuring a creature in a skeletal claw. various mushrooms and glowing things are behind him. there's a lot of rules text on the card that isn't particularly relevant to this post.

text from the mtg "the legends of secrets of strixhaven" article, describing moseo:

"Moseo, once the professor of osteomancy, was nearly compleated during the Phyrexian Invasion. But, through his quick thinking, he was able to enact a powerful (and risky) spell to excise the Phyrexian influence from his body before it could overtake him, which had the minor side effect of leaving behind nothing but his own animated skeleton.

In the aftermath, with many Witherbloom professors having died as frontline medics, Moseo willingly stepped up to replace the deceased Valentin as the new dean of the vein. He is a powerful osteomancer with the ability to carve magic from marrow and puppet his foes by animating the bones within their still-living bodies. Though many find his skeletal appearance off-putting, Moseo much prefers it to his old body and enjoys using it to spook his students. Though, even his most skittish students are charmed by his skeleton pest Rinata and his morbid jokes."

my new favorite magic the gathering character is the bone wizard who almost got phyrexia'd but then used his bone magic to become only bones, and he thinks it's awesome, and he does skeleton pranks and jokes now

Opposition leader Péter Magyar at a rally.

Opposition leader Péter Magyar at a rally.

Orbán's electoral crushing is a far greater achievement than most people outside Hungary realise.

He systemically consolidated power for 16 years, fixed the electoral map, abused govt power for political purposes & censored media.

The hurdles that Hungarians overcame for this moment were immense.

Magyar’s speech is powered. From a contact in the audience: “He’s basically just asked all the puppets, all the supreme justices, all the heads of media, all the heads of the ministries to leave their jobs tomorrow and not wait to be fired.”

Codie is apparently also a Book; guess the issue is that it feels weird to do it now when the set has absolutely no other references to Books as a type.
