How you put so much in such little time is fantastic. I am so lucky to have been born here. The follow-up discussion has sparked disbelief that we know nothing of pre-invasion Australian Indigenous governing processes from Larissa Behrendt. I hope we go there next. #boyer

We've done it 🥳

Finally, there's a canonical paper on the #QGIS project, its history, workings, and challenges: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S266...

Thanks to @timlinux and @mbernasocchi for joining me in trying to tell the QGIS story 💚

I just want to do a cartographic post grad. Nothing else. Just cartography. I think I would have to travel overseas for it.

FOSS4G 2025 Auckland FOSS4G 2025 Conference in Auckland, New Zealand from 17-23 November 2025

@foss4g.org I hope we get to see a heap of Cartographic presentations and workshops. I feel we really don't have enough Cartographic training down here in Oceania! Do you agree? And if not, where would one go for more? 2025.foss4g.org/attend/call-... #foss4g #qgis

Opening a ArcPro Template in QGIS - North River Geographic Systems Inc use the SLYR plugin to convert your ArcPro files to a QGIS friendly format.

Big thanks to Randal Hale rjhale1971.bsky.social at North River Geographic for your blog using SLYR to convert an #ArcGISPro template to #QGIS. This is exactly what we had in mind when designing it. Oh, and we’ve already fixed the issue with Dynamic Text—it’ll be in the next update shortly!

An older woman uses a magnifying glass to look at an old map.

An older woman uses a magnifying glass to look at an old map.

Henrietta came into the store today. She was born in Palestine and asked me if I had any maps of the region. She told me about living in Bethlehem and Jerusalem and going on a motorcycle ride from Damascus to Istanbul. We got to travel together briefly with this 1946 map from National Geographic.

I wonder which other geospatial companies will follow them.

The fact that replies are disabled to the original post is telling. Women are more likely to sued for defamation when they complain. Out of Brittany Higgins allegations, 14 defamation followed.

the Ability To Duplicate Thoughts on duplicating data with modern tooling and STAC

the Ability To Duplicate

Copying data from one place can be important, especially if governments are limiting access to public data. I wrote a little thing to demonstrate how to duplicate geospatial data w/ modern tooling (obstore, #stac, stac-geoparquet, etc).

"Job sharing roles" puts more pressure on each person and takes away why you hired the person in the first place as they bring their specific spice to the role. Working from home has been fantastic for me. It means that I can get more done but there are so many other benefits.
