All the lies I regret telling as a beauty journalist Writing about beauty in the Noughties, Eleanor Tucker helped normalise the idea that ageing in women is something to ‘fix’. Two decades on, she reflects on the lies she told and deeply regrets

While I was researching my novel Turn Back Time, I reread some of my old beauty articles – and cringed a bit.

I wrote about why for The Independent this week, and what I’d say differently now.

Turn Back Time is out this Thursday, pre-order link is in my bio.

Turn Back Time (out in two weeks) is Psychologies magazine’s ‘Must read’ this month, which I am so chuffed about. The review calls it an “outrageously funny look at the modern obsession with youth“.

So go and grab your copy now, it’s the May issue, out today. #womensfiction #bookclubfiction

Turn Back Time by Eleanor Tucker | #bookreview I have been looking forward to reading this book for quite some time since I the author told me about it at a book event we were both at last year. Turn Back Time is Eleanor Tucker's debut novel although she has previously written a non-fiction book, Thanks for Sharing, which I also enjoyed. I noticed the sharing economy, which is the subject of that book, gets a brief mention in this one.

VERY chuffed to be interviewed for this piece in DAZED by Madeleine Feeny, looking at a new wave of novels taking on toxic beauty culture and our obsession with youth, which includes mine of course.

<cover reveal. klaxon> Turn Back Time (coming April 2026) is the story of 47-year-old beauty journalist, who trials a hi-tech beauty treatment that will make her look twenty years younger. This is your Black Friday reminder that actual book shops can't afford to discount like Amazon and supermarkets do. If you can, get full price books but also a full heart.

Two years ago, my proofs of Thanks for Sharing arrived. I had ZERO idea at that point how far it would travel, but fast forward to today and it’s in libraries from Manchester to Auckland, a recommended text at universities and sold in bookshops from Lithuania to Taiwan. #books #publishingjourney
