If there were ever a time to get used to using the RDAP protocol rather than WHOIS, it's today!
Posts by BZA Domains
OpenRDAP is a command line client to access RDAP info in a terminal window, but they also offer information on the redirecting server and API that rdap.net runs
www.openrdap.org/api
More from @DomainTools:
"WHOIS has been in use for over 40 years, and was never designed for the scale it is being used at today. While WHOIS is a text file, RDAP is machine readable JSON format."

WHOIS may depreciate in the upcoming year. What's its successor?
A technology called RDAP, or Registration Data Access Protocol.

I'm rooting for Bluesky to win. Any social media platform that allows custom domains is going to win with me.
Domains on Vercel:
✅ Unlimited custom domains
✅ Unlimited wildcard domains
✅ Automatic SSL certificates
✅ Low-latency Anycast IP range
✅ Programmatic issuance and verification
✅ Lead by @dillonis.online 🐐
✅ And now lower prices!
When I setup this account here, I thought it was going to be a mimic of the account I had over on Twitter.
However, the more I used Bluesky personally, I saw the old way won't fly.
I won't be pushing domain sales on this account. Rather, it'll serve as a guide to domaining for anyone interested.
I figured it out!
I exported the image in "dark mode", which makes the outlining border black, but it also bleeds through to some of the other parts of the image, it seems haha
Noted!
This image is AI generated art. It is a promotional image for the domain name CANNACARE.XYZ. It depicts the inside of a cannabis dispensary with bright airy colors, an inviting interior, with a display case, featuring cannabis products, plants, and signs all around.
This image is AI generated art. It serves as a promotional image for the domain name BBQONTHEROCKS.COM. It depicts a man sitting behind a bar, wearing a button down black shirt, with a towel over his shoulder, serving a plate of barbecue food. The setting is bbq joint/diner type restaurant, with a bar filled with liquor bottles in the background.
Available now at BZADomains.com!

Upon viewing the image now, it seems that it put th company domain name tag at the top in black, rather than white - and that's not on the AI. I put that there, in white, in excalidraw.
No idea why it exported in black 🤔
Playing with AI for promo image generation, came up with this little banger, which required very little post-generation editing.
Flux 1.1 pro even put the tag of the domain name at the bottom, with no real issue. So dope!
One caveat to this whole thing, so watch out for it!
Updating your administrative contact information on the domain WILL initiate another 60-day lock period!
Happy domaining, fellow Blueskyers!
The same applies for hand registered domains as well.
BUT, if you had a Cosmotown account, you could initiate an inter-registrar push event, where the seller pushes the domain within the registrar to you, so you'd be able to list the domain immediately.
Meaning, if you purchase a domain name from say JustDropped, and the name is at Cosmotown, but you only have a Dynadot account, then you'll need to transfer it. Once you transfer it, you can do nothing with it, short of hosting your own site on it, or park it for 60 days.
Because first thing is that you have to have an account, if you want to use their marketplace. But, the bigger reason is because of the dreaded 60-Day ICANN lock.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names & Numbers enacts a 60 Day lock on all domain names that transfer registrars.
One of the many things I should have included in that thread:
It's good practice to have an account at as many registrars as possible, even if you don't use them. "But, why?" you might ask. And that's what I'm here to tell you!
Please don't hesitate to hit me up if you have any questions!
I'm not an expert, just a dingus on the internet trying to make it out in the big scary world haha
So, if I don't have an answer on something, I'm sure we can find one for ya 😃
Okay, I feel like I've covered a bunch of stuff here, and I'm not exactly elated with the structure haha not having native threading for posts is kinda messing with my flow.
I'll probably reform this thread, but I hope you found something useful.
Keyword research, my friends.
Keyword research is a big part of finding good names as it is, and it's everything when it comes to parking - as parking isn't the highest payer on the block. So to maximize, you really want to park names with words that get searched for.
You park the domain with a lander, and when people click the ads or links on the lander, you get money!
So, there's a little strategy that comes along with parking, because you can't just throw a name like "bigstnkych33se.art" up on Sedo or Above and expect it to make money.
Also, don't forget, domaining isn't just buying & selling. You also have an opportunity to make some parking cash as well.
Parking cash, is completely passive, and basically exactly what it sounds like.
Listing on the MLS platforms might be the better starting move, to be honest. Afternic has around 100 or so partners that it works with to blast out their marketplace listings to.
Then fill in with other marketplaces you seem to like.
Now is where I tell you, that in addition to any of the aforementioned marketplaces, there's also the MLS marketplaces - Multi-Listing Services.
Sedo & Afternic (RIP Dan - which is being cannabilized by Afternic.)
The most overlooked might be their accounting section on each domain. It allows you to store the Purchase date, sale price & renewal price. As well as the sold notes for each of those.
You can also customize your lander templates, including custom analytics. Pretty dope!
I've enjoyed Sav, Epik, Dynadot, Namecheap, NameSilo, Porkbun & NameBright. (Heads up: NB only deals w/a handful of tld's).
But I have to note here, that Aftermarket offers a bunch of cool little tools built into their UX that I haven't seen anywhere else, except for Domainpage(dot)io.
I personally use GoDaddy as an inbetween for their auctions, then xfer my domains out. $21 renewal is absurd. I've also never had more customer support issues than I have with GoDaddy, for the record.
A little thing I noticed listing my domains at Saw, I could have imported whatever I had in my NameSilo account - in fact, you can log in to your Saw account with your NameSilo account.
There are so many registrars and marketplaces, but don't get overwhelmed! Not every one of them is for everyone 😀
Side Note: DropCatch is a NameBright company. So if you're going to use DropCatch, you'll need to also open NameBright account. When you purchase domains from DropCatch, they'll drop right into your NB account. So good. Also, NameBright does like $10 & change reg's & renewals 👍
DropCatch, as a matter of fact, offers dropped, private seller, pending delete, and prerelease auctions.
I guess we should have covered this previously, but you need a place to keep your domains. I personally experimented with a bunch of registrars to see who's features, and UX I liked best.
