In the fic version, the vampire characters were already presented as humans. Those types of fic were very popular because they were basically just smutty romance novels. When they got published, authors played up “the characters are human!” to make it seem like they had done a big edit.
Because 50 Shades/MOTU did not scrape the serial numbers off the world building. It was already imagined with humans instead. This is something that nobody understands and even an article with my name on it has this wrong because I couldn’t get the editor to reword it.

I’m a HUGE sports fan, especially Michigan sports. But my charge is to make sure they are awesome thinkers and humans, long after their bodies have worn them out of their sports. I really want to figure out how to do both.
This is my first term teaching student athletes who have been or have big chances of being drafted into the major league of their sports. And the experience has really got me thinking about what it might mean to really provide a meaningful humanities experience for student athletes.
2020-2021 was one of the most peaceful years of teaching I've ever had. I literally lost a sibling during that year and still remember it as on balance, "good." I'm still trying to dissect what that was and see if the lessons can be applied.

I don't know who needs to hear this tonight but one of the best teaching tips I've received in the past 10 years is that you can shove all your assignments into an unpublished module on Canvas and their due dates and titles will show up for your students but they will remain locked.

I think the US’s fantasy about separation of church and state has resulted in an unwillingness to acknowledge that we are increasingly living in a theocracy. And that unwillingness means that we are not going to acknowledge that we are being governed by a very twisted form of that religion.
